Ecumenical choice gift ideas for any occasion and occasion. Surprise your friends and loved ones! ;)

Good day! What associations do you have with the phrase "New Year's socks"? Can you imagine warm and cozy knitted socks with deer and snowflakes on your legs, blissfully stretched out in front of the fireplace? Everything is almost the same, only we are not talking about ordinary socks, but about Christmas decorative ones - a kind of containers for gifts from Santa, St. Nicholas and Santa Claus.

How did New Year's socks and master classes appear?

European traditions are actively penetrating the life of Russians. We started celebrating Valentine's Day, we celebrate Halloween and we call Santa Claus Santa. I don’t think this is bad. Exchange of experience and rituals arouses interest, motivates to search for new ones interesting ideas for organizing holidays. So, for example, not so long ago the day of St. Nicholas was celebrated not in every family. Today this is a great reason for mums and dads to please the kids with small surprises.

In Europe and America on St. Nicholas Day - December 19, obedient boys and girls receive an award in special socks. They are hung over mantels or over children's beds.

According to the legend, the tradition of filling socks with sweets appeared many hundreds of years ago. On the eve of the holiday, in this way Saint Nicholas made three sisters happy from a very poor family... The miracle worker helped the girls with the dowry by tossing a sack of gold into their socks on the drying rack by the fireplace. All the sisters successfully married and lived a happy life.

For modern children, adults put gifts in socks for good behavior and just like that, wanting to please, to prolong the belief in a miracle. It is appropriate to hang socks not only on the eve of St. Nicholas Day, but also at Christmas and New Year... There are never too many miracles and gifts, so why not give your loved ones joy? I will tell you how to make cool bright and unusual socks with your own hands from scrap materials. Detailed master classes and photos will help you understand and repeat the lessons.

Classic Christmas fabric boot

Don't buy ready-made socks from the store! Make such a boot yourself, introduce the child to the process, combining efforts and imagination, because it's so cool and it's not difficult to make small masterpieces. Let's start with classic version- a traditional Christmas sock.

Indicate for yourself how many units and what size you plan to make. Maybe you like the idea of making a sock for each family member according to the principle: the oldest is the largest sock, the smallest is the smallest one with a funny design? In any case, in the process, you will need a New Year's fabric with Christmas trees, snowflakes, deer or Santa Claus. You can replace the material with a tea towel of the desired topic.

Once you find a suitable fabric, go to the template. Draw the pattern of the sock onto the paper. Draw it by hand in any shape you like or use ready-made template from the network. Place the pattern on the folded fabric, circle it with a piece of chalk or soap, and cut out carefully. Then it's even easier - sew the product along the edges from the wrong side and turn it inside out.

Decorate a ready-made boot for New Year and Christmas surprises with cuffs, lace, braid and whatever you think is appropriate. Hang ready-made socks over the fireplace or in any other suitable place using a specially sewn loop of lace.

Decorative paper sock

Paper socks for the New Year or felt boots play exclusively the role of decor. Due to their looseness, they are not suitable for gifts, but they effectively decorate the house.

Use them to create a New Year's atmosphere and a festive mood, especially since it will take very little time to make.

Like any craft, a paper sock starts with a layout. Make one out of cardboard or thick paper, be sure to involve the child in the lesson - let him practice his ability to draw, trace, cut out. Circle the rough sock on the album sheets as many times as you need finished products. Cut and paint with bright colors, decorate with glitter, rain and serpentine. Fasten the loops on the toes and hang them around the house.

This is how paper or felt socks can turn out.

Knitted boots from an old sweater

Surely you have a few old stretched sweaters lying around at home, which are a pity to throw away, but are already uncomfortable to wear. For Christmas boots, this is ideal basis... Prepare:

  • layout;
  • sweaters;
  • dense fabric (burlap, drape, linen are suitable);
  • scissors;
  • thread and a needle.

Place the product template (can be removed directly from the sock) on a thick fabric and circle. Cut out. You will prepare the foundation.

Further in the process enter knitted sweaters... Cut several strips 5 to 7 cm wide, preferably with different patterns and great color. Use a ruler and preferably a circular knife to get it neat. The more different stripes you get, the more interesting the final result will be. Continue to work with the fabric base. Lay out the strips on it as you like in such a way that you get a colorful, pretty sock, combining textures, colors and patterns of details. Sew the strips together until you touch the part that will be cut into the heel.

From the remaining sweater, cut a triangle with dimensions that correspond to the parameters of the heel, sew it with stripes at the top and bottom. Zigzag all seams to keep the loops from crawling. Attach the base to the finished “knitted” New Year's sock; the easiest way is to sew the details. Turn out and sew on the back, thus preparing a "pocket" for gifts. Correct the shape of the sock, cutting off all unnecessary, turn the product back onto the front part.

The final touch is the loop at the top of the sock for attaching. You can do it in any of the ways you like. It can be a hand-crocheted buttonhole, an element of a braid, a dense knitted thread. Add cuffs to make the sock look natural and cozy. An elastic band from a sweater is ideal for their role.

Unusual fruit-shaped socks: bright ideas for bright people

If your soul asks for a holiday and creativity, try to move away from templates and for a while forget about the traditional New Year symbols. I propose to make cool holiday socks for the New Year in the form of fruits. Children will be delighted with these!

Take the proven felt as a basis. bright colors: red, yellow and green. The decor is made of braid. For fastening - glue. It is convenient to work with sharp scissors and crayons.

  • Let's start with an appetizing and juicy watermelon... Use red or pink and green felt. Also, very little black material is needed for seeds. The decor will look great from the usual white braid. So, first, cut out the base for the boot from red felt or Pink colour... Please note that the base must be double for the sock to be sewn or glued.

Cut the loop out of felt or tape separately. It can also be sewn on or glued on. The green fabric plays the role of a watermelon rind. Cut out a wide strip and glue it at the top of the sock to create a cuff. Decorate it with black bones. Tape the border between the flowers with white tape. The sock is ready - festive and eye-catching.

  • A variation on a theme, but with an exotic twist - pineapple sock... Why not? Among the snow-covered landscapes, a sunny yellow boot for gifts fills with optimism. Sewing the product is simple by analogy with the "watermelon". Use saturated felt yellow color and some green fabric for the top. Prepare a paper mockup and transfer it to a double-folded felt.

To make the fruit more embossed and more natural, sew it with braid over the entire surface (neat diagonally intersecting lines). Make the cuffs green and don't forget the sturdy buttonhole. She should not fail at the most crucial moment - when the time comes to wrap the sock with gifts.

  • Strawberry sock is made according to the same principle as pineapple or watermelon. The base is double red felt. Glue or sew on the sides to make a pouch. Decorate the strawberries with green leaves and white felt dots.

All three types of boots look beautiful and festive as a set. If possible, make a “fruit” for each child. Let them guess who is who and where whose gift is!

Ice cream cone: a creative solution for the resourceful

What makes children happy? What do they love more than anything else? Of course it's ice cream! And this means that New Year's socks in the form of a favorite delicacy are the best that an adult could think of! Making such wonderful containers for sweets and small gifts is as easy as shelling pears from the same felt.

Prepare a pattern for a New Year's sock, cut a blank of beige fabric folded in half along its contours. This will be an ice cream cone. Draw diagonal lines on the surface of the sock and sew them on a typewriter for relief. Cut the balls of delicacies out of colored felt, decorate with the children with colored sugar, marmalade and chocolate. These will be the cuffs. Cut decorative details from suitable fabrics, use a glue gun for a strong and comfortable attachment.

Magnetic sock for the nursery

Classy and unusual idea- Christmas boot with a magnet. Its convenience lies in the versatility of the mount.

You can hang such a "panel" anywhere, from the nursery to the front door. This is very convenient when there is no fireplace over which you could hang your socks according to tradition. After the end of the holiday, the magnet can be fixed on the refrigerator, hidden in christmas boot recipes, notes, leave notes to each other. And that's not it. The "pocket" will perfectly fit pens, scissors, napkins and even objects household chemicals... In a word - a useful and effective thing!

How to do:

  1. Cut a sock out of cardboard so you can fit your gift box behind it.
  2. Cover the cardboard blank with colored napkins or pieces of cloth.
  3. Stick a soft magnet on one side of a box of the right size and a colored sock on the other.

It's all. Then you can add a fabric base with a pattern or inscriptions to the product, or you can leave the boot as it is. If you like the first option more, then you will need thick cardboard in addition to fabric. The base will be held on it. Cover the cardboard with a pre-measured and cut-to-size cloth. Make an applique with Christmas designs or patterns. Leave a place in the center for attaching the magnetic shoe.

Of course, these are not all options. There are still a lot of ideas for knitting socks with knitting needles or filigree patterns made by crocheting, sewing using flax, drape, burlap.

Making cool shoes just from old winter coats and jackets. Especially resourceful ones make whole garlands of fabric and paper socks for children, friends and relatives.

Friends, I'm finishing this, share ideas and master classes on the network, exchange experiences and inspire and be inspired!

So that in the process of making a sock-decoration for a New Year's fireplace does not get bored, involve children in the creative process. And while making a New Year's boot for gifts with your own hands, tell the children a very fascinating legend of its appearance:

“A long time ago, there was a poor old man in a small town in England. He was rich only in that he had three daughters. The poor man was very sad that because of poverty he could not marry his daughters - they did not have a dowry. He was very worried about how they would live after his death.

And on Christmas Eve, this man shared his grief with his friend. Santa Claus heard this conversation and decided to help the old man. But since the old man was proud, he did not take money. Therefore, Santa decided to make gifts for the daughters of the venerable man.

At night, when everyone had already gone to bed, Santa Claus went down the chimney into the room.

In the family's room there were no Christmas decorations, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, but only washed girls' socks and stockings hung by the fireplace.

Klaus had no choice but to put a sack of gold in his socks.

In the morning, when the girls woke up and found precious gifts in socks, they were very glad that now they could get married. The young ladies began to tell about the miracle to all their friends and acquaintances. Over time, the entire population of the city learned about such a diva. And since then, on Christmas Eve, every family hung socks by the fireplace with the belief that in the morning they would find a wonderful gift there. "

At this moment, a neat loop is still sewn so that it can be hung. Turn the accessory out with the main fabric.

In this article, the news portal "site" has prepared for you a very nice and not complicated master class on making Christmas socks out of paper. Even a child can handle this Christmas craft.

To make such cute paper Christmas socks, you will need a special template (attached below), colored paper double-sided, colored markers, glue stick.

Print the finished template on colored paper. Cut it out carefully and fold it. Use the glue of the pencil to fix the craft.

Now you can start the fun part - decorating your Christmas sock. Cut out all sorts of details from colored paper and glue them to the sock using the applique technique.

You can also decorate Christmas socks with painted patterns. Arm yourself with colored markers and draw on paper Christmas socks beautiful snowflakes and other winter plots.

From the West came the tradition of decorating a house to New year and Christmas decorative sewn boots.

It is very easy to make them with your own hands, besides, such a boot is an excellent package for little gift, which is not very convenient to give just like that. And put into it any little thing (for example, a chocolate bar) will become bright and memorable a gift, checked!

I will tell you about my experience in implementing the idea Alexandra Alexandrovna Nikulina on the simplified sewing of such boots.

So, to begin with, we define with pattern... You can draw your own (it's very simple), you can translate from a ready-made pattern in a magazine or the Internet (there are enough of them). The main thing is that the gift that you are going to pack in this boot fits freely into it.

In use materials and decor give room to your fantasies, decorate the front side with decorative stitches, ribbons, sequins - after all, it's a holiday!

I am doing patchwork, so I prepared for the front side of my boot patchwork from squares:

If you want to make your boot denser, you can quilt the front (and back too) side of the boot with a small layer padding polyester.

Now let's start the most important thing: add layers... We put on the table:

  • layer lining face up
  • on it - the second layer lining face down
  • above - patchwork(front) part of the face up
  • fabric for backdrop boot face down.
Chipping off all layers with pins:

We outline the contours of the boot according to the template and we use(except for the top).

Trimming excess, leaving allowances along the seam line.

In places of bends, do not forget to make notches by allowances, so that after turning the seam does not tighten.

Now turn out a boot between the patchwork and the back.

In this case, the seam between the two parts of the lining will be closed, and your boot, even from the inside, will not have open shaggy seams! And this one line!

Now all that remains is to edging top cut.

Moreover, you can simplify the procedure here too: leave a small "tail" from the inlay, then bend it into a loop and fasten (and at the same time decorate) with some bead or button.

It's that simple! If you do without patchwork, then the work will take otily hour!

Making boots is fashionable fun and a profitable business.

In 2007, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Badgley Mischka, Josie Natori and Anthropologie presented their own Christmas socks to the public.

Each boot had a "character".

For example, Mark Badgley and James Mischka made a graceful “feminine” sock from gray silk. It was decorated with a large bow and metal pendants, and “female” things were put inside.

The sock from Anthropologie turned out to be the most "rich". It is made of felt, cardboard, bamboo. It also included pipe cleaners, wire, buttons, schnapps, automatic guns and even silver spoons ...

All of these Christmas socks, as well as socks from other well-known designers, were available for purchase on eBay. By the way, the designers have filled their socks with gifts. And the proceeds from their sale were used to help the elderly.

Here is such christmas boot you can do it yourself.

Like these ones christmas boots I sewed to my children a few years ago.

To sew boot for gifts we need:
- red material (I bought a red fleece for 0.5 m)
- white material for "fur" (I literally bought a 20 cm strip of some shaggy material)
- material of any other color, if you embroider names (I had purple fleece)
- faithful
- decorations

We reshape the pattern - you can enlarge it in any graphic program or draw it in the cells. My boots turned out to be 21 cm high.
Sewn boot for gifts elementary: we cut it out on the fabric with allowances for the seams, sew the sides of the boots and sew on the "fur" and a string on top so that there is something to hang on. We decorate to your taste. My kids put notes there with wishes for New Year's gifts from Santa Claus.

ATTENTION: if you want, like me, to decorate the boots with the names of the children, then first you need to sew on the letters, and then sew the boots themselves.
I took the letters from the Word, selected the font without unnecessary monograms and simply increased the font to the size I needed. I printed them, cut them out of the fabric, under which I put interlining so that the letters remained even. That's all, the boots are ready!
This is how it looks enlarged:

Natasha Oleinik (Saechka)

December is not far off - a month of pre-holiday bustle, a month of waiting for a holiday, a fairy tale and a miracle.

It was the Christmas and New Year holidays that have been absorbed into us from childhood with the scent of pine needles, sparklers and fireworks, some kind of mystery, magic and miracle. Every time, under the chimes, we make another (or the same) wish, in the confidence that this time it will come true. We prepare gifts for our family and friends, come up with many different delicious dishes - almost for the whole year ... As for the bowl of Olivier salad, I’m not sure that everyone is still putting it on display. New Year's table... But once, in "stagnant times", to celebrate the New Year without this salad was considered bad form. Traditions…

Sorry, I, as always, deviated from the topic, because I have a handicraft, not a culinary one.

Let's start making Christmas boots (socks, stockings - as you like) for gifts. Although such a boot itself can be a wonderful gift, isn't it?

For manufacturing we need:

1.The fabric is semi-woolen blue for sewing the base of the boot;
(Or another, according to your taste)

2. Glue dublerin for making the boot more rigid;

3. Pieces of nonwoven fabric white(volumetric non-woven fabric, padding polyester) for making a snowman and snow;

4. Pieces of red or orange cloth for making a nose and
headgear for a snowman;

5. Dark brown yarn for making a broom;
6. Fabric with sequins of blue color for finishing the top of the boot in the form of a starry sky;

7. Bias tape or tape for edging seams;

8. Beads for making eyes and mouth for a snowman and for the image of stars

9. A sewing machine or just a needle and thread.

So, we draw mock-ups - patterns of boots on paper, choose one of them in order to give a start in life.

We cut out two parts of the boot from blue fabric and from doublerin, placing them in a mirror-like manner.
Mirror - like this.

On the seamy side for the main pattern, put the dublerin with the glue side to the fabric and iron it with an iron through gauze or cotton napkin.

We begin to decorate one side of the boot.
To do this, fluff the edge of the non-woven fabric on one side, on the other, trim it with the bottom of the boot.

We lay a few decorative stitches on the nonwoven fabric, sewing it on. We lay the top line at a distance of about 0.8 cm from the fluffed edge, keeping the illusion of fluffy snow.

We cut mugs of different diameters from non-woven material for making a snowman.
We sweep the details together, put a bucket of cloth on the snowman's head and sew on a carrot nose. With black beads we draw the coals-eyes and the mouth of the snowman.

We tag them to front side boot and sew on a zigzag seam along the edge.
Subsequently, the snowman seemed to me somehow defenseless, lonely, so I decided to "mold" his hands and reward him with a broom.
A bucket on the head with "powder" snow made of fluffed non-woven material.

I made a broom from dark brown yarn: I crocheted the shaft (a regular chain), and a pompom-tassel served as the "sweeping" part. When sewing the broom to your boot, be sure to thread it through the snowman's “hand”.

Depicting the starry sky, we sweep the appropriate fabric to the top of the boot,

turn it back and trim the edges.

We scatter a few "stars" of beads between "heaven and earth" - below the "starry sky".

We decorate the second (back) part of the boot with “snow” and “starry sky.” Our snowman lives on one side.

We fold the two details of the boot, face out, sweep away. We trim the sections with braid, do not forget to sew a loop on top.

Advice: if you bind the edges with a non-bias tape using the special foot for sewing machine, but with braid, then do not be too lazy to sweep the braid in order to avoid later unweighted areas.

You can sew textile hearts, snowflakes or stars from the remnants of the fabric to the boot. A wonderful handmade gift for Christmas and New Year is ready. He will not only create a festive mood for your gift, but also convey a piece of your warmth to your family and friends.

HERE ARE THERE ARE IDEAS DROPPED AND TURNED TO DO IT ITSELF.

New Year's sock is very original, cute and fashionable in terms of interior decoration for the New Year and Christmas celebrations.

Socks for gifts for the New Year can be different.

Of course, you can use a regular sock, but this is completely trite.

Let's figure out how to make a truly New Year's sock for decorating a room, fireplace and for gifts to your children.

DIY Christmas sock for gifts

The difference between a New Year's sock and an ordinary, human one is that the shape of the festive one is slightly different.

Rather, it resembles a kind rural galosh, but it is decorated differently - more stylishly, in a winter way, but most importantly - brightly.

When choosing the size of New Year's socks, you need to pay special attention to the shape and size of the gifts.

If they are small, a large sock will not work for gifts. If large, it will do.

The main thing is that the gift inside the sock does not dangle, otherwise it will lose its shape and the long-awaited effect, alas, will not be possible to contemplate.

To make a New Year's sock for

You need to stock up on the following materials:

  • thick fabric... You can choose any color for it, but it is better to stay on a bright one. The ideal option is red, because red socks for gifts came to us from England. In this form, socks are depicted on postcards, featured in holiday films. You can choose any fabric, but it is better not just dense, which will not wrinkle and keep its shape, but also a little rough to the touch. It will give some warm image a sock for gifts;
  • thin synthetic winterizer;
  • lining fabric. You can buy any;
  • paper sheet;
  • beautiful satin ribbon but preferably not too wide;
  • scissors;
  • a needle and threads to match the color of the selected fabrics (you can specially select thick threads of a different color, if this is part of the design plan).

We needed a sheet of paper to create a pattern for a New Year's sock. It is better to take a leaf "in the box", on which the lines will turn out smoother.

We draw with a pencil, and if necessary, erase the lines with an eraser, drawing new ones.

When the pattern is ready, you need to cut it out, and then cut the fabric along it.

In turn, we create identical parts from the main material, then from the lining, padding polyester.

Each such element should be two. If you have more socks, more details will come in handy.

Don't forget to make a crochet hook for your New Year's sock to hang over the fireplace.
