How the contractions begin in the third childbirth. What are the features of the course of the third pregnancy, what signs indicate the onset of labor and how do they go? Unpleasant consequences for older women

A woman, as a rule, being already financially secure and professionally established, manages to bear a child without unnecessary fears and fuss. The third pregnancy makes it possible to listen to your feelings, understand them and take the necessary measures in case of any unfavorable symptoms. Often this pregnancy is planned, therefore, the woman prepares for this event in advance. The body becomes older, "wiser", and pregnancy proceeds along the already well-known, well-trodden paths.

However, repeated pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period differ in some features, which we will talk about.

The course of the third pregnancy

The third pregnancy usually proceeds favorably, without severe toxicosis characteristic of the first pregnancies (this The general trend, but the body of every woman, of course, is individual).

Chronic diseases in the third pregnancy

After 35 years, the first signs of chronic diseases appear, which can be an aggravating fact for the course of variability. The frequency of both genital (chronic salpingo-oophoritis, endomyometritis, uterine myoma, endometriosis) and extragenital pathology (chronic diseases of the respiratory system, urinary tract, cardiovascular system and endocrine systems) is increasing. In this case, the likelihood of developing late toxicosis of pregnancy and the progression of diseases such as pyelonephritis, hypertension, diabetes mellitus increases. All this requires examination and treatment. If the mother is over 35 and the father is over 45, the likelihood of fetal malformations increases. To exclude this diagnosis, you can contact a genetic consultation.

In addition, during repeated pregnancies, a woman is more susceptible to the development and progression of conditions such as anemia and varicose veins, which is associated with an increase in physical activity on the body and "wear and tear" of its reserve forces.

Varicose veins in the third pregnancy

In 70-90% of cases, the disease develops during pregnancy. The first signs of varicose veins are the appearance of a vascular mesh on the legs, swelling, increasing in the evening. This is due to the fact that during pregnancy, the volume of circulating blood increases by 30-50%. The ability of the venous vessels to withstand the increasing load is limited, and blood flow in the lower extremities slows down. The situation is especially aggravated by the presence of excess weight, endocrine diseases, hereditary predisposition, impaired rheological properties of blood (increased coagulation). The walls of blood vessels "get tired" from tension and relax, stretching with characteristic bluish waves under the skin. The situation can progress, involving in the process the vessels of not only the legs, but also the external genital and internal organs... For example, hemorrhoids are nothing more than overstretched walls of the venous vessels of the lower rectum, which sharply increase with increasing pressure in abdominal cavity and small pelvis - for example, when straining. As a prevention of varicose veins, compression stockings are recommended, which help the veins to cope with increased stress, an elevated position of the legs during sleep, special gymnastics and adherence to a diet aimed at preventing constipation. As a treatment - drugs that improve microcirculation and rheological properties of blood (i.e. drugs that thin the blood), strengthen the vascular wall, increase its tone.

The probability of the progression of varicose veins is especially high in cases where the first signs of varicose veins appeared during previous pregnancies.

Anemia during pregnancy

Decrease in the amount of hemoglobin in red blood cells, erythrocytes. During repeated pregnancies, women are more likely to be at risk for development iron deficiency anemia, which is observed in every fourth woman. A low level of hemoglobin in the blood leads to oxygen deficiency in the placenta, and the reserves necessary for the development of the child are reduced. Conditions such as lethargy, weakness, dizziness, blurred vision, palpitations, shortness of breath, impaired memory and attention can also be a consequence of anemia. Therefore, in in this case it is recommended to control the level of hemoglobin and iron content in the blood. Proper nutrition helps prevent this condition. All pregnant women, and especially multiparous women, are recommended to take iron-containing drugs for a course of at least 4-6 weeks 2-3 times during pregnancy.

Overstretching of the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall.

Physiologically, due to the overstretching of the anterior abdominal wall, the center of gravity shifts forward more than during previous pregnancies. In addition, the fetus during repeated pregnancies, as a rule, weighs more than during the previous one, and the woman is more severe than in the first pregnancy, feels heaviness or even pain in the lower back and sacrum, in the lower abdomen. As the uterus grows, the abdomen deviates more and more anteriorly, compensatingly increasing the bend in the lumbar spine. In this case, it is possible to recommend wearing a bandage, which, by supporting the abdomen from below, to some extent restores balance and reduces the load on the lumbosacral spine (when the expectant mother lies, she does not need a bandage).

The bandage should be worn while lying down. To prevent weakness of the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall, it is recommended to perform special exercises, if there are no contraindications for this. We are talking, for example, about exercises that strengthen the oblique muscles of the abdomen - this is a kind of natural "bandage" that supports the growing uterus. The training of these muscles reduces the load on the lumbar spine and prevents the appearance of stretch marks on the anterior abdominal wall. Standing on your left leg and leaning on something, put your right leg behind the left, alternately in front and behind. Then change your supporting leg.

Inadequacy of the pelvic floor muscles, weakness of the ligamentous apparatus due to stretching or rupture of the muscles and ligaments of the pelvic floor during previous childbirth can manifest itself in the form of urine leakage with tension - laughing, coughing. Urinary incontinence during pregnancy occurs in multiparous women (approximately 13%) more often than in primiparous women.

Low location of the placenta in the third pregnancy

One of the obstetric unfavorable situations is the low position of the placenta or its presentation, when the placenta completely or partially overlaps the internal os of the cervix - the exit from the uterus. The reason may be "worn out" of the uterine mucosa by previous births or abortions. This condition often manifests itself as bleeding during pregnancy. However, as the uterus grows during pregnancy, the placenta can shift, migrate upward, and the bleeding stops. A woman should be very attentive to her feelings and symptoms that appear.

Pelvic floor muscle failure. An increased load on the pelvic floor during pregnancy and especially in the second stage of labor can lead to prolapse of the vaginal walls, the appearance of hemorrhoids, urinary incontinence both during pregnancy and in the postpartum period, which occurs more often with repeated births. After childbirth, the ligamentous apparatus of the genitals and pelvic floor muscles are stretched, the uterus is very mobile and easily displaced. The muscles of the pelvic floor are relaxed and unable to keep the uterus in a physiological position, which often leads to prolapse of internal organs after childbirth.

Rh-conflict in the third pregnancy

With each new pregnancy, the risk of developing Rh-conflict increases. After the first pregnancy, Rh antibodies appear in about 10% of women, after each subsequent pregnancy - in about the same.

Rh-conflict is possible in women with Rh-negative blood with Rh-positive fetal blood. Erythrocytes of the fetus can enter the mother's blood from the 6-8th week of pregnancy. And if in previous pregnancies with a Rh-positive fetus, even a small amount of Rh-positive erythrocytes entered the mother's bloodstream, then with repeated pregnancy (especially if, in addition to childbirth, there were also abortions), the amount of antibodies in the mother's blood can reach a threshold value at which the fetal red blood cells will begin to break down. As a result of the penetration of the blood of the fetus with positive Rh erythrocytes into the mother's bloodstream, antibodies begin to be produced in her body - protective proteins, which, in turn, penetrate the placenta to the fetus. In his body, an antigen-antibody reaction occurs, which leads to the destruction of fetal erythrocytes - hemolysis. This condition is called fetal hemolytic disease (HDF); outwardly it manifests itself as jaundice.

HDF can lead to adverse health and even life-threatening consequences for the fetus or newborn. In this case, the newborn (according to indications, depending on the severity of his condition) undergoes a replacement blood transfusion: in order to restore the destroyed erythrocytes, the child is transfused Rh-negative blood of the first group. In the absence of antibodies during previous and this pregnancy, a woman must, no later than 72 hours after childbirth, inject anti-Rhesus immunoglobulin, which prevents the formation of new antibodies (it is better to do this within the first day). This is the prevention of Rh-conflict in subsequent pregnancies. It is recommended to monitor the state of the blood for anti-Rhesus antibodies, and especially - the change in their number. With an increase in the number of antibodies, there may be a need for early childbirth.

Postponing pregnancy

It is known that each subsequent child is larger than the previous one. According to statistics, the second child is 20-30% larger than the first. It can be assumed that this is determined by several factors. One of them is psychological, that is, when carrying a second baby, the expectant mother is calmer, since she is already familiar with pregnancy and childbirth firsthand. Another reason may be that during the second pregnancy, the mother's body is already trained in carrying the baby, blood circulation in the uteroplacental and fetal-placental vessels provides a greater supply nutrients to the fetus than during the first pregnancy. This fact creates the prerequisites for prolonging pregnancy, since due to the overstretching of the uterine wall, the receptors become not so sensitive to hormones, which, acting on the uterus, trigger its contraction, and the onset of labor is delayed. In this case, it is important to monitor the functional state of the fetus; for this, at the end of pregnancy, it is necessary to visit a doctor at least 1-2 times a week. When the first signs of overburdening appear (a decrease in the amount amniotic fluid, decreased motor activity of the fetus, etc.), the doctor will offer the woman hospitalization. In these situations, it is especially important to timely carry out such additional research methods as ultrasound, Doppler (study of blood flow in the vessels of the fetus, umbilical cord), CTG (registration of fetal heartbeats).

Third birth

Third births are generally faster, the period of lactation formation is easier, because the milk passages are already "open". Due to the good extensibility of the perineal tissue during repeated childbirth, birth traumatism is significantly reduced, in particular, the number of perineal injuries is reduced. At the same time, with repeated childbirth, complications such as rapid labor, postpartum hemorrhage, exacerbation of various chronic diseases, etc. are possible.

Fast delivery. For the third birth, the nature is: easier opening of the uterine pharynx, a faster course of the labor process as a whole, i.e. fleeting (up to 4 hours) childbirth can find a woman at work, on the street, in transport. Repeated labor proceeds faster than the first due to the faster opening of the cervix (uterine pharynx).

Secondary weakness generic activity. Of the peculiarities of the course of the third birth, attention is drawn to the high frequency of violations of the soda rhythm in the form of secondary weakness of labor (in this case, the birth process is at first active, and then its rate, instead of increasing, begins to decrease). This situation may require an urgent prescription of medication. The second stage of labor may be complicated by secondary weakness of labor due to overstretching of the anterior abdominal wall, often due to the pronounced development of subcutaneous fat or with a large fetus.

Some complications are also possible in the third stage of labor, when the placenta is separated. So, due to the reduced tone of the walls of the uterus, difficulties may arise when separating the placenta, due to the presence of inflammatory processes in the uterine wall in the past, the placenta may be tightly attached or not completely separated. All of these conditions require manual examination of the uterus.

Postpartum period after 3 pregnancies

Bleeding. In the postpartum period, the likelihood of bleeding increases due to a decrease in the contractility of the uterus. For the same reason, there may be problems with the separation of the placenta in the third stage of labor. The better the uterus contracts, the lower the risk of pathological bleeding, in which the volume of blood loss exceeds 0.5% of the woman's body weight. After separation of the placenta, the abundantly vascularized inner surface of the uterus opens and there is a real risk of rapid loss a large number blood. When the muscles of the uterus contract, the vessels are compressed, contributing to the formation of blood clots that close them, as a result of which the bleeding decreases and then stops altogether. In case of impaired contractility, the uterus remains sluggish and the vessels continue to bleed profusely. It is because of the danger of bleeding in the early postpartum period that obstetricians pay the most close attention to women who have multiparous.

The tendency to hypotension (lethargy) of the uterus persists in the future - in the late postpartum period, which can lead to a delay in the uterine cavity of postpartum discharge. Against this background, inflammatory processes of the inner lining of the uterus (endomyometritis) can develop. Therefore, multiparous mothers in the postpartum period are usually prescribed reducing agents, and before discharge, a control ultrasound examination is performed.

Prevention of these unpleasant conditions, which may require physiotherapy, such as myostimulation (a physiotherapy procedure during which there is an effect on different groups muscles, contributing to their training), and even surgical intervention, is the exercise for the perineum - well-known Kegel exercises in various modifications. Any muscle atrophies without training. And given the upcoming load, training these muscles is essential. You can start classes after 16-18 weeks of pregnancy, actively continuing to do them in the postpartum period.

Of course, the third birth is not an easy test. But knowledge of the characteristics of repeated pregnancy and childbirth, as well as previous experience of carrying and giving birth to a baby, will allow a woman to confidently go through the process of childbirth and quickly recover in the postpartum period.

This question, perhaps, worries any pregnant woman, and the closer the X hour, the more this anxiety. Listening to their feelings, catching any symptoms, pregnant women spend the last weeks of pregnancy.

For many, curiosity about how labor begins, wakes up almost with the first positive pregnancy test, and does not let go until the very birth of the child.

Let's figure out what are the harbingers of childbirth, false contractions, and when we can say that this is the beginning of childbirth.

Harbingers of childbirth

Already from 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, women begin to notice that the uterus periodically comes in tone. This is a painless sensation of tension in the uterus, while when palpating, you can notice that the abdomen is hardening and tense. It's not even a fight yet ...

Signs of an impending birth usually appear about a month - 2 weeks before the event itself, and can cause a lot of anxiety. In primiparas, they usually appear earlier than during repeated childbirth, but they are less pronounced; in multiparous women, they can appear only in a few days, almost immediately before childbirth.

Harbingers of childbirth are a complex of symptoms, which is a kind of replaying of events and the establishment of the necessary connections in the body of the expectant mother, which will ensure the normal course of childbirth.

In many ways, the woman's nervous system is responsible for the development of childbirth, and in order for everything to end happily, it is necessary to establish appropriate neural connections, to form the so-called dominant of childbirth. It is clear that if a woman has already given birth, this happens faster, according to a previously worked out scenario, and the shorter the interval between births, the easier it happens. This is why re-births are shorter and the delivery warning is also shorter and more pronounced.

When do the harbingers of childbirth begin? They usually occur at 37 - 38 - 39 - 40 weeks of gestation.

How long are the harbingers of childbirth? They usually last until the onset of labor, and this can happen in a month, or in 2 weeks, or in a couple of days.

So, what does it say that labor is about to begin? What are the harbingers of childbirth?

Weight loss before childbirth

Women can lose up to 2 kg of weight 1-2 weeks before giving birth. This is due to hormonal changes in the body, the amount of progesterone in the blood decreases and the amount of estrogen increases. Progesterone contributes to fluid retention in the body, and when its level drops, fluid is excreted, the woman loses weight. These are the earliest signs of labor.

Lowering the abdomen

Lowering the abdomen during pregnancy is a symptom that is not always noticed. In recent weeks, the baby has taken up so much space in the uterus that his ass can literally rest against the ribs, preventing his mother from breathing, bending over, and even causing pain. But a few days before giving birth, his head is pressed against the bones of the pelvis, which causes the lowering of the abdomen before childbirth. Especially these signs of childbirth are noticeable in primiparous, with the second and third births, the child can descend immediately before the event itself.

Signs of a lowering of the abdomen are easier breathing, the feeling that it has become lower and less interfering, and at the same time, this can cause some discomfort of another plan. The head presses on bladder, and you constantly run to the toilet, at the same time, it can be difficult to go to a large extent, constipation can bother you.

If you notice these symptoms, this does not mean that labor will begin tomorrow, the lowering of the abdomen can occur even a month before the event itself, these are the first signals of an approach significant date, one of those that appear before everyone else.

Change in mood

For most women, apathy, feelings of fatigue, and a desire to sleep before childbirth are characteristic. Some ladies, on the other hand, are too active and for the tenth time ironing the diapers and sorting out the contents of the bag for the maternity hospital (nesting syndrome).

Both options are normal, it is better to submit to your desires. If you want to sleep - sleep, gain strength, they will be needed very soon.

Discharge, discharge of the plug before childbirth

During pregnancy, the cervical canal is closed with a mucous plug, this is a thick mucus that closes the cervix in a lump and prevents the penetration of infections to the fetus.

The opening of the cervix before childbirth begins well in advance. At first, it is shortened and smoothed, gradually its canal opens slightly, this is called the ripening of the cervix. By the time of childbirth, it will become completely soft and smoothed, this preparatory opening of the cervix during pregnancy is provided just by training contractions, and only a mature cervix will enable childbirth to develop normally.

I must say that in re-pregnant women, the opening occurs literally before the birth itself, or even with its beginning. In primary pregnant women, the opening of the cervix by 2 fingers may already be at the time of admission to the hospital, in advance, even before the start of active labor, for them this process is extended in time and begins in advance.

Signs of an opening of the cervix - discharge from the genital tract. The discharge is due to the discharge of the mucous plug. Even if the mucous plug has come off, it is impossible to predict when the labor will begin. The cork before childbirth is a lump of mucus, up to one and a half to two centimeters in diameter, it can be different color, and transparent, and yellowish, and brown, and even streaked with scarlet blood. These are all normal options.

The plug comes off in different ways, for someone it takes several days, and then there is a mucous-bloody discharge, for someone it leaves at once. Most often, labor begins within the next week after the appearance of these secretions.

Loss of appetite

More often, appetite is disturbed 1-2 days before childbirth, you don't want to eat anything. This is normal, and you don't have to force yourself.

Abatement of the child's motor activity

Before giving birth, a child moves less and less in two to three weeks. Sometimes there is no movement for 6-7 hours in a row, which makes the mother worry about whether everything is okay with the child. The absence of movement is due to the fact that the child simply has nowhere to turn around, it becomes very crowded in the uterus.

An overly restless child before childbirth is a reason for consulting a gynecologist, intrauterine fetal hypoxia is possible.

Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea

Nausea is not the most pleasant precursor of childbirth, and it is fortunate that it comes literally just before childbirth and not for everyone. But some women not only have nausea, but also vomiting.

Diarrhea is somewhat more common and may be a couple of days before delivery.

All these are not the most pleasant symptoms, a kind of liberation of the way for the baby, the intestines should be empty before childbirth, so as not to interfere with the child's passage through the birth canal, and nature took care of this.

Pain in the perineum, pain in the sacrum and pubis

Lowering the child's head down, the divergence of the pelvic bones cause pain in this area.

False contractions

Training contractions before childbirth, or mock contractions, are contractions of the uterus that closely resemble real contractions. Quite often, during the first birth, they mislead the pregnant woman and force them to urgently go to the hospital.

Even before labor begins, false contractions can drain the nervous system if taken seriously. Yes, this is a signal of an imminent birth, but not yet delivery, it may be another two weeks before you give birth.

What are they, training contractions before childbirth?

These are contractions of the uterus, somewhat painful, the pain resembles the one that sometimes bothers with menstruation, this is not the feeling that the stomach is pulling, which happened before, but real pain that comes in attacks, pain in the lower abdomen and in the lower back, growing in a wave and letting go.

But it is not so strong and long-lasting that you experience real discomfort, you may well continue to go about your business, despite its presence.

If this is just a warning about an imminent birth, the contractions are fickle and irregular. They can disturb at various intervals (5-15 minutes) for several hours and stop completely, as if nothing had happened.

To understand whether it is a fight or not, it is enough just to time the time between them. If they do not grow in duration and the intervals remain erratic and long - this is not childbirth.

If this is your first pregnancy and you don’t need to go to the hospital for more than an hour, you should not go there immediately. The first birth takes a long time, and even if you make a mistake, there will be no disaster. Try a warm bath, take a pill, and go to bed. You will most likely fall asleep peacefully.

Sometimes false contractions turn into real labor. The intervals are shortened, the contractions intensify and lengthen, and then for sure - it's time to go to the hospital.

What precursors of childbirth speak of danger and require immediate contact with the hospital?

- Harbingers premature birth are similar to those described above. The development of such symptoms earlier than 35 weeks is a reason to urgently consult a gynecologist. Premature opening of the cervix and labor can develop in the middle of pregnancy if it is not consistent due to trauma during abortions, operations and previous childbirth.

The appearance of pure scarlet blood from the genital tract, at any time, is a threat to the child's life.

The appearance of leakage of amniotic fluid. It is a damp, watery sensation that is aggravated by movement. If you notice this, you need to consult a doctor immediately, there is a risk of infection of the uterine cavity and fetus. Wearing a white cloth lining helps to distinguish water leakage, it is easy to assess the nature of the discharge on it, the amniotic fluid does not smell, usually transparent. They can be brown (very bad symptom) or green from admixture of meconium (also very bad).

Signs of the onset of labor

But how does the birth itself begin? Then you will smile, remembering how you were afraid to miss this moment, but not now, now this is probably one of the main fears, and it seems that you can miss the birth. Don't worry, childbirth is something you definitely won't be able to oversleep.

What determines the onset of labor?

Of course, on whether you and the child are ready for them. Ripening of the cervix, the formation of the necessary nerve connections and hormonal levels leads to the appearance of symptoms of incipient labor.

The first signs of incipient labor may appear between 37 and 42 weeks, if labor does not start on time, doctors try to speed up the onset of labor.

The second labor usually starts earlier. If labor does not start in any way, measures are taken to prepare the cervix. Very often, sex is of great benefit, when there are more than enough cases after sex.

What time does labor start?

Oddly enough, most children choose to be born at night. This is due to the daily fluctuations of hormones in the woman's blood, their optimal level is usually in the early morning hours, which is why labor begins at night.

Are there any differences in how labor develops with different kinds? Yes, I have. And it depends on many factors, for example, on how long has passed between childbirth, how long they began.

How does preterm labor start? Usually, if the first symptoms of the onset of premature birth are contractions, and if a woman goes to the hospital on time, this is regarded as a threat of premature birth and in most cases it is possible to stop labor if the cervical dilatation has not gone too far.

It is much sadder if preterm labor begins with the outpouring of amniotic fluid. With severe prematurity, pregnancy can be prolonged for several days or even weeks, but in most cases the child is born.

How and when does the first birth begin?

The first childbirth often begins at a period of 40 or more weeks, and they are preceded by a rather long warning period. Most often, the precursors smoothly pass into labor, having managed to spoil the nerves of the expectant mother a lot before that and forcing them to turn to gynecologists more than once with suspicion of the onset of childbirth.

How does the second, third birth begin?

Usually at an earlier date than the first, 38-40 weeks, and develop more rapidly. The period of precursors is either bright short, several days, or absent altogether.

How to recognize the onset of labor is usually not even a question for the expectant mother, she remembers how it happens. Contractions are not the only way to start labor. The onset of labor can vary ...

The transition of the precursors of childbirth to generic activity. The frequency of contractions before childbirth increases, their strength increases, the intervals are shortened and become rhythmic.

Independent emergence of labor. Contractions start regularly from the very beginning and gradually intensify.

Premature rupture of amniotic fluid. I must say that the onset of childbirth is usually easily recognized by a woman, and at the same time there is always a great emotional uplift, composure and readiness to fight arise, you will experience joy and relief at the same time. And of course, there will be a feeling of anxiety and fear, how else? Even the beginning of the second birth is a step into the unknown.

Let's look at all the signs of the onset of labor.

The transition of the harbingers of childbirth, false contractions, into real contractions

Perhaps you have experienced false contractions for a week or two, but they never became regular, they passed completely. But this time it won't be like that. The first signs of the onset of labor are the reduction in the intervals between contractions and their intensification, they become longer. If, during false contractions, you could go to bed and fall asleep calmly, you could be distracted from them by business - if this is the beginning of labor, contractions will take all your attention.

If this is the onset of labor, how does labor develop? If during training contractions it is difficult to call them painful, how to understand that labor has begun is not difficult: the pain becomes severe. This pain is no longer similar to menstrual pain. This is pressure in the lumbar region, spreading to the lower abdomen, with a dull aching sensation that intensifies and then releases. There is no pain in between. At first, such contractions are short, 10-15 seconds, but with the development of childbirth, they become more and more often and longer.

When the intervals between them do not exceed 10 minutes, and they themselves last 40-50 seconds, this is already an active labor activity, you definitely need to see a doctor urgently.

Although the first birth usually lasts at least 12 hours, you must admit that it is better to arrive earlier than late, it's time to call ambulance and go to the hospital.

Independent emergence of labor

Most often, with repeated childbirth, the period of precursors of childbirth is very short, and childbirth can begin literally immediately. The body is already ready, the reasons for the onset of labor are the formed generic dominant in the woman's brain, and with repeated births, her memory is still alive after the first birth, when there is a scenario, the performance develops quickly.

And the task of how to determine the onset of childbirth during repeated childbirth is no longer worth it, the woman is familiar with all the sensations, she perfectly remembers the symptoms.

Contractions begin at first not strong, but they grow very quickly, it is impossible to miss the onset of labor, and you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible, often such births are very quick. If childbirth begins suddenly, if childbirth began at home, this is an excuse to quit all business, you will have time to do everything later. Take your documents with you, a bottle of water (simple, no gas), and urgently to the hospital, without waiting for your husband from work, etc.

You will not need things at first, you can bring them tomorrow as well.

Premature rupture of amniotic fluid

If the water begins to leak or overflow before the onset of labor, such an outpouring is called premature. Even if you have a full-term pregnancy, starting labor with rupture of amniotic fluid is not a good thing, especially if you are in labor for the first time. An interval of more than 6 hours without water is called a long anhydrous period; in such a situation, the child is at risk of intrauterine infection. Thus, even the leakage of amniotic fluid is a reason to urgently go to the hospital, even if the water is poured out, but there are no contractions.

At the end of pregnancy, the head of the fetus descends into the small pelvis, and presses on the bladder, which is why many women have a problem with urination. Not only do you want to go to the toilet often, there may also be urinary incontinence. In such a situation, how to understand whether the onset of labor is also water leakage or just incontinence?

It's very simple, you must definitely wear a panty liner. It should be either a plain white cloth or a pad with a non-mesh surface, then the nature of the discharge can be easily assessed. Amniotic fluid from urine is very easy to distinguish.

How does the water drain? There are two possibilities.

They can come off at once, 150-200 ml of liquid will pour out on your legs. Your task is to assess their character in order to tell the doctor about it. Normally, amniotic fluid is light and odorless. In the presence of green amniotic fluid, bad smell from them, their brown color, it is imperative to tell the doctor about this, you can be sure that you will be asked about it. The discharge of amniotic fluid may be accompanied by cramping pains in the lower abdomen.

How to find out about the onset of labor if the water just leaks, but there are no contractions? Is it water or just a discharge? Tighten your stomach, tense slightly. If at the same time you feel an increase in discharge, do not doubt that this is amniotic fluid, and you need to go to the hospital.

When the gestation period is already long, has passed 40 weeks, and there are not even precursors of childbirth, impatience, fatigue and irritability appear. I really want labor to start faster, and women begin to use different methods their accelerations, for example, start rearranging furniture at home, develop vigorous physical activity, lead an active sex life. All this helps to bring the onset of labor closer, but at the same time it is tiresome, the best thing to do before childbirth is to get more sleep. There is no need to stimulate the onset of labor, the time will come, and they will begin, no one is still pregnant.

If you are worried about why labor does not begin, ask your gynecologist about it. An error in the timing is quite likely, for example, especially if the first ultrasound was only in the second trimester.

If it is necessary to accelerate the approach of labor from a medical point of view, doctors will do this by medical methods, and your task is to know the signs of the onset of labor and determine in a timely manner that they have begun, and get to the hospital in time.

While preparing for this significant day, I read a lot of stories about childbirth on the site. I kept thinking how my third birth would go. The first birth was very painful, it lasted 13 hours, the afterbirth itself did not go away, they did manual separation under anesthesia. The daughter was born 2290 gr. 49.5 cm. The second delivery was programmed - first, the gel was placed, then the bladder was opened. The birth took about 4.5 hours. The son was born 3450 gr. 56 cm.

To begin with, I decided to prepare for childbirth in advance. She learned breathing exercises, postures during contractions. I read about a raspberry leaf on the Internet and decided to try it. As it turned out, the pharmacy does not sell it. We must wait until he grows up in the country. I drank this wonderful drink 2 weeks before giving birth and in my opinion it really helped. So I recommend it. But more on that later.

First, a little about the pregnancy itself. I always wanted 4 children and my husband and I talked about it more than once. But we decided to postpone it for now. In 3-4 years to give birth, but for now it is necessary to go to work. How long can you sit at home. It was a year ago. In June 2013 I finished breastfeeding. A month and a week later, the first menstruation came. After the same period, the second. All this time we protected ourselves, except for a couple of days before and after menstruation and during them. Previously, there was no need - the replacement was in progress. And before the third in a few days I did not want to. The husband was still surprised that you want to get pregnant. To which I laughed, - It's impossible, because after 4-5 days "red days" (as we call them).

But the red days did not come not after 5 days, not after a week. I did the tests every other day. And nothing. I thought I was sick. No signs of pregnancy. I made an appointment with a gynecologist, an appointment in 2 weeks, I decided to get tested and put a spiral. A couple of days later I do a test - a barely noticeable second strip. I didn’t tell anyone, I thought it’s a hundred cheap test - defective, it was Monday. I went to the dentist for weeks, which almost became a fatal mistake. On Friday I did another test - clear 2 strips. I told my husband that he was surprised and very happy. We decided not to tell anyone yet. And then they will begin to dissuade.

I had to go to the doctor a week earlier - a slight bleeding began. I think the dentist's anesthesia has affected. The gynecologist wrote out a referral to the hospital with a threat of miscarriage. While I was in the hospital, I did the first ultrasound. And then the confusion began with the timing of pregnancy. No one could put the exact date of birth. For menstruation should be 9 weeks, and ultrasound showed 5-6. In all subsequent ultrasounds, the discrepancy was for a month. As a result, the doctor set the due date for me on July 7, and from menstruation it should be on June 5. On a period of 32 weeks, she herself counted 5.5 weeks back from the first ultrasound, I remembered that conversation with her husband before menstruation. I counted back his shifts at work. I realized that we conceived him on October 30, ovulation was late. The PDR was released on June 23rd. This is the second time. There were also timing differences with a previous pregnancy due to late ovulation... Then I gave birth a week later than the PDD, and now it is 2 weeks later.

In general, this pregnancy was more difficult than the others. At 26 weeks, the sciatic nerve was pinched, the perineum, back, tailbone, leg in the thigh, left side hurt. At 36 weeks, the child sank and everything began to hurt again, now the pubis, right leg and lower abdomen were added. After visiting the gynecologist, I went to the hospital for storage. The threat of premature birth. I lay there for 12 days, rested from household chores, got bored of the kids. I came to see the gynecologist after discharge. She looked at me, gave me directions for tests, a whole bunch. It is necessary to hand over everything again before giving birth. A week later I handed over everything to the antenatal clinic. And I decided to go to my doctor. The child was very low, pressed hard on the perineum, and in general everything hurt. It was hard at home with three children and a stomach. So I myself asked for the direction to be written out.

On the same day, June 16, I went to surrender. Doctor V.A. Mizonov is in the maternity hospital. looked at the armchair, said that it was still too early, in 3-4 days the labor might begin. I prescribed no-shpu in injections to prepare for childbirth and to relieve unnecessary pains that had bothered me for the last month. But-shpa helped, I was even able to sleep normally for several days. On every day on the round, the doctor said we are waiting until Monday 23rd. And on Friday, after the detour, he called me to a chair, for some reason decided to take a look before the weekend. On examination, he said that the disclosure was 1 cm and decided to rush the process. The time is 11:40. He stirred me up there and sent me with the words "Today you will give birth." Prescribed CTG and a drip with no-spa after lunch. At about 13:30 I felt weak contractions. On the CTG at 15:00, the contractions were regular and a little more noticeable. I called my husband. They laughed with him that he was again on duty for days when I was giving birth. As always, for the 3rd time. During dinner at 5:15 pm, everyone in the dining room is constantly talking about the same thing. And to another question addressed to me “When will you give birth? What does the doctor say? " I said that tomorrow I will definitely hold the baby in my arms.

2 weeks before giving birth, I began to drink the "miracle drink" raspberry leaf. Thanks to this, the cervix was soft and elastic. The disclosure went faster and gave birth without breaks.

At 18:00, pinkish discharge began (from this moment I consider the onset of labor), contractions intensified. After half an hour, the cork began to recede, the discharge became bloody. At 19:00 (already another doctor Rakhmatuloeva N.I.) they looked at the chair, the disclosure was also 1 cm, contractions in 3-4 minutes. The doctor said to transfer to the delivery unit. At 20:30 they had an enema. I went to the prenatal ward, listened to the radio with headphones. At 21:10, again on the chair - opening 3 cm. We decided that it was too early to open the bubble, we will wait up to 4 cm. We put it on CTG, contractions in 2-3 minutes. I called my dad and mom, told the news that they would soon have another grandson. At 22:00, contractions every minute, began to moan. The midwife persuaded to lie down. But it was easier for me to walk and squat on contractions near the wall or holding on to the headboard. At 22:55, the disclosure was 4-5 cm, the bladder was pierced. Crazy fights began. Again they persuaded me to lie down, but I was kneeling on the bed, it seemed to me easier. And the opening goes better in an upright position. After half an hour of my screams, attempts began. At first, the midwife said be patient, it’s too early to push. But after seeing the disclosure, she took me to the delivery room at 23:30. She said - let's go there pushing for the family. the chair will be faster and lighter than the bed.

I started pushing and a whole delegation gathered around me. Doctor on duty Rakhmatuloeva, two midwives, a nurse and children's doctor... My doctor Mizonov came. He was called for an emergency caesarean. We did not make a special agreement with him about childbirth. It seemed to me that they all only interfere. That would have disappeared somewhere except the midwife Beruda Broneslavovna. I tried to listen only to her, because everyone was shouting in unison. One said - push, the other - be patient, the third don't shout, breathe. As a result, the head appeared 1/3 on one of the attempts, the second one had to endure, gain strength. I felt that the tension was not strong and I could give birth now. I tried hard - gave birth to a head, and then a little body. The clock is 23:59. We even checked the phones with the doctor for accuracy. I was just overjoyed. She was waiting for this birth, like no others, preparing for them more than anyone else. My treasure was soon carried off without processing. We are waiting for the afterbirth to be born, but it does not go away. There are no more contractions. After 15 minutes, a son was brought in, weighing 3060 and 52 cm tall and attached to the chest. He didn't really want to take her, but the midwife made him. The uterus did not contract anymore, and half an hour after giving birth, an anesthesiologist was called and they decided to clean it by hand.

I woke up at 2:20 am on the birth table. I just could not come to my senses and understand what had happened. At first it even seemed as if I had a dream about childbirth. I look at a few missed ones on my phone. I called my husband, still drunk from anesthesia, and told the good news. In about 20 minutes I was taken to the 3rd floor, where mummies with children lie. My son then slept in the children's room. She finally recovered from anesthesia only by 3:30. I did not want to sleep at all. I went to the hygiene room, cleaned myself up and put on a normal pad. I walked along the corridor, sat with a nurse, she showed me her son. Then I went to bed at 4:30. It turned out to sleep only a couple of hours, they brought my son to feed.

We were discharged on Tuesday with a weight of 2960. We were met by my parents, all my children: 2 daughters, my son and my precious husband.

Thanks to everyone who read this long story. Don't be afraid to give birth. Children are the greatest blessing from God.

In the morning after birth.

Arthur is 2.5 weeks old.

The birth of a child is in most cases a planned event. Approximately 70 percent of couples approach this process very responsibly. Primiparous women may face various difficulties while carrying a baby. However, if the fairer sex already has offspring, then everything changes. How is the third birth going? Reviews of mothers giving birth about this event will be presented to your attention in the article. You will also learn about the opinion of doctors on this issue. It is worth saying that the third pregnancy, the third childbirth and the postpartum period have their own characteristics.

How it all starts: the fertilization process

Childbirth) is practically no different from the previous ones at the very beginning. happens in a standard way. During ovulation, sexual intercourse occurs, during which male cells enter the female body. When a gamete leaves the follicle, fusion or so-called fertilization occurs. As a result, a fertilized egg is formed. It descends into the genital organ through the fallopian tubes and is securely fixed there.

Another method of fertilization is worth considering. It so happens that for some indications a couple needs the help of reproductive specialists. If the first two babies were born through in vitro fertilization, then the third pregnancy can occur on its own. There is still no explanation for this coincidence. However, the fact remains.

Happy news

A third pregnancy is rarely a surprise for a woman. In most cases, the fairer sex consciously takes this step. Often times, good news of an interesting situation does not come as a surprise. In most cases, the expectant mother from the very first days feels that a new life is developing in her body.

Reviews suggest that many of the fairer sex long before receiving positive test on pregnancy were assured of fertilization. Everything is explained by the fact that these feelings are already familiar to the expectant mother. She knows very well what toxicosis and hormonal changes in the body are.

How is the third pregnancy going?

Before the third birth comes, a woman will have to carry her baby for many months. In most cases, this time is no different from the previous ones. The expectant mother will still have to regularly visit the gynecologist, take tests, be examined with ultrasound and undergo many doctors. Only in some situations during the third pregnancy can additional examinations be indicated.

It is worth saying that the third birth usually occurs after 30-35 years. During this period, the woman had already taken place as a mother. She knows perfectly well what will be best for her baby. That is why all purchases for a child are made with complete confidence. Also age future mother plays a large role in the genetic issue. After 30 years, the risk of having a baby with developmental disabilities increases. That is why the fairer sex must undergo a thorough examination.

Features of the third pregnancy: the opinion of women and doctors

Reviews of women indicate that the third pregnancy becomes noticeable much earlier than the two previous ones. The tummy is rounded at the very beginning of the second trimester, while the first time it happened only in the third trimester.

Also, women testify that the third time movements can be felt much earlier. There are representatives of the fairer sex who claim that they felt light tremors of the baby even before 12 weeks. However, doctors are dubious about such claims. Gynecologists say that it is possible to feel the movements of the baby in the third pregnancy from 15 weeks, while the first time this happens only after 20 weeks.

Another feature of the course of the third pregnancy is isthmic-cervical insufficiency. This diagnosis is made in about 20 percent of expectant mothers. This is due to the fact that the uterus and its cervix are a muscle. Over time, it begins to wear out. An important role in this is played by abortion and diagnostic curettage. Ismtico-cervical insufficiency is characterized by the fact that the cervix begins to flatten and open earlier than the due date. Often, women who want to become a mother for the third time have to put stitches in this area and put a pessary. Doctors say this condition can be controlled. However, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible with a problem.

Third birth - how is it going?

The doctors' comments indicate that the process can be carried out in two well-known ways: this is a natural delivery or a cesarean section. The choice of technique directly depends on the state of health of the woman and the methods of giving birth to her previous babies. There may be several options for the course of labor. Let's consider them:

  • Natural childbirth. This mechanism for conducting the process is chosen when the first two babies of a woman in labor were born using this method. Representatives of the fairer sex with one cesarean section behind their shoulders also have a chance for a similar outcome. Moreover, it could be held for the first or second time.
  • C-section. This delivery option is chosen when the first two babies were born in this way. On the natural childbirth in this case only a few doctors are decided. In this case, the state of the scar and uterus must be ideal, which is very rare in the third pregnancy. Also, a cesarean section can be performed for the first time in the third childbirth. There may be good reasons for this, including the condition of the fetus and the expectant mother. It is worth noting that various chronic diseases are acquired over the years.

Before having a baby, be sure to talk to your doctor. Despite the fact that the expectant mother already knows what to expect, unforeseen situations may arise. Third genera - what are they? Ask your gynecologist about this. After such a conversation, a positive attitude is provided, you will know exactly what to prepare for.

Third birth - for how long?

The doctors' comments indicate that the baby may appear a little earlier for the third time. This is due to the fact that the pelvic floor muscles are no longer so elastic. Over the previous two pregnancies, they have stretched out. This often leads to the premature birth of a child. It is worth recalling that urgent births (completed on time) are those that occurred in the period from 38 to 42 weeks. When the process or rupture of amniotic fluid occurs earlier, it is a premature process.

Likewise, a woman giving birth for the third time may face problems.This often happens due to a strong stretching of the walls of the uterus or insufficient production of hormones. It should be noted that this process is aggravated in some pathologies. These include polyhydramnios, oligohydramnios, inflammation, the presence of scars on the uterus, and so on. In these cases, doctors resort to after the 41st week.

How does it start?

How does the third birth start? Reviews of mothers who have given birth indicate that the process starts completely unexpectedly. In most cases, the third pregnancy does not have obvious training contractions, which inform the expectant mother about an imminent meeting with the baby. Also, the first two times, a clear forerunner was abdominal ptosis, which occurs about a month before the important day. In the third birth, the baby can sink into the pelvis in just a few hours. Often a woman does not experience any precursors.

How does the third birth start? The doctors' comments indicate that the process can begin with contractions or the outpouring of amniotic fluid. Statistics say that the fetal bladder in the third baby bursts much less often than in the first two pregnancies. Sometimes a woman may simply not feel how the cervical canal opens and the fetus goes down. However, after the outpouring amniotic fluid normal contractions begin, which the expectant mother will not confuse with anything.

Duration of the process

How long does the third birth last? Reviews of mothers who have given birth indicate that this process is happening rather quickly compared to the first two. This fact has a fairly simple explanation.

The uterus, ligaments, cervical canal and cervix tend to remember everything that happens to them. So, if for the first time the fetus sank into the pelvis for a rather long time, the birth canal was prepared for about a day, and the uterus had unproductive contractions, in the third birth everything is completely different. Many women say that they barely have time to arrive when attempts have already begun. The average duration of a third birth is 2 to 5 hours. During this time, a woman has time to feel all the "delights" of the process, from abdominal prolapse to the birth of the placenta.

Pain intensity

Is the third birth really less painful? Reviews of mothers who have given birth indicate that this statement is incorrect. The arrival of the child for the third time is much faster. Based on this, the duration of pain is reduced. However, this does not make the contractions painless.

If we are talking about a cesarean section, then in this case the process of having children for a woman is no different. In all three births, the expectant mother is under the influence of anesthetics. That is why she does not feel much pain during the operation. However, the unpleasant sensations begin to gain their strength as soon as the effect of the anesthesia wears off.

Postpartum period

You already know what third kind reviews have. It should be said that the recovery in this case takes a little longer. Women say that bleeding can last not 4 weeks, as it was in previous times, but 6. This is the norm. However, a change in the nature of the discharge should alert every newly-made mom. Quite often, a third birth can lead to inflammation or retention of lochia.

Concerning breast milk, then the third time it comes much faster. If you had to wait for your food for about 3-4 days, then this time you can breastfeed your baby already on the delivery table with the first attachment.

Summarizing

You became aware of the third birth responses of those giving birth. Doctors say that no pregnancy can repeat itself in its own way. Even for the same representative of the weaker sex, the process of delivery takes place every time in a new way. Third genera - what are they? Ask your gynecologist about this. However, narration is only a small fraction. Much in this process depends on the woman herself. Follow the doctor's recommendations and follow all appointments. Easy delivery and quick recovery!

Honor and praise to those couples who decided to go for their third child. The trend towards large families in modern conditions life is drastically reduced. However, even now, some families do not stop with two children. On the one hand, a woman is already gaining experience in the process of giving birth to previous children. On the other hand, each time is associated with a certain amount of risk, because the third birth may go completely wrong.

What features are they characterized by? Are there any specific tips and recommendations on how to properly prepare for this responsible process again?

Training

In order for the birth of a third child to take place without any complications, special preparation is needed for them, which affects both the physical and psychological aspects.

Physical training

  1. It is advisable to plan a third child, and before conception, both spouses go through medical examination... If the first babies were born and grow up healthy, this does not mean at all that the next baby is not in danger. Remember your age, which in this case does not work for you.
  2. By the third birth, most women are gaining excess weight, which further leads to weakness of the muscles of the press and uterus, which negatively affects delivery. Therefore, the figure must be brought back to normal, and throughout pregnancy, eat competently and in moderation.
  3. It is necessary to provide the body with a sufficient amount of calcium. You need to drink special preparations with its content. The first two pregnancies are likely to have weakened bones, increasing the risk of birth injuries.
  4. Do specific exercises to avoid relaxing your vaginal muscles.
  5. Eat right: you need a little, but extremely healthy foods.
  6. Lead an active lifestyle, be constantly on the move, swim, take daily walks.

Psychological preparation

  1. Start your third birth with a clean slate. Forget negative feelings after previous ones. Believe that this time everything will be less painful and without any complications. If the impressions and sensations acquired earlier leave much to be desired, do not drag them along with you with your luggage.
  2. Get more rest, relax, pamper yourself during pregnancy.
  3. Prepare the first children for the arrival of the third family member.
  4. Transfer some of your worries to your husband.

Read more about psychological preparation in our dedicated article.

Financial aspect

  1. If after the first two children there are any things or furniture for the newborn, use them. You can save a lot on this.
  2. 2 weeks before the appointed time, collect all the documents necessary at the hospital, as well as packages with things that may be useful there.
  3. It is better to prepare clothes for the baby in advance. So you will be absolutely calm that you have everything collected and after childbirth you will not need to run around the shops in search of this or that thing.

It is useless to start preparing for the third birth 2 weeks before the birth of the baby, because precious time will be lost. It should be carried out already at the time of conception, making sure that your body is ready to cope with such a colossal load for the third time, despite the age and state of health.

The timing

Preparing to become a mother for the third time, a woman should know how long it takes to give birth in this case. This usually happens much earlier. If the first pregnancy ends with delivery at about the 40th week, then the third baby will not stay in the womb for a long time and will be asked to be born somewhere at 37-38 weeks.

However, you need to understand that all these numbers are very conditional and do not lend themselves to typing. Experts will unanimously answer the question whether the third child is always born on time: most often not, this happens 1-2 weeks earlier than the appointed date. So it is worth being ready for this in advance, so that psychological attitude was appropriate, and the packages to the hospital were collected.

Duration

One of the most pressing questions that all women ask is how long the third birth takes: is their duration different from the previous one? Here, indeed, there are peculiarities and nuances, which it is better to learn about in advance in order to be ready for such a development of the plot and not to worry in vain.

  1. When asked about third births, whether they will be fast or not, any obstetrician-gynecologist will answer unequivocally. They will take much less time than the previous ones. This fact is explained by the fact that the cervix (read about its preparation here) is already trained in this matter and expands almost instantly. Its outer and inner rings open simultaneously.
  2. The average duration of the third birth is about 4-5 hours, although it is not uncommon for this interval to be reduced to 2 hours, which does not in any way affect the condition of the mother or child.

If a woman knows in advance how long the third birth will take in time, she will not worry if everything goes too fast. In this case, the transience of the process is due to the usual physiological factors, is the norm and should not worry the expectant mother.

Harbingers

Even an experienced woman who already has two children is worried when to go to the hospital for the third birth, so as not to be late. Indeed, given the fact that they begin much earlier than the previous ones, this case cannot be delayed. As soon as the first harbingers appeared, you need not hesitate and go to the hospital. Better it will be a false alarm than the baby will have to be born at home, not prepared for this conditions (just in case, read about home birth in more detail).

Usually the third labor begins according to the following scheme:

  • weight loss;
  • the stomach drops;
  • breathing is easier;
  • physical activity the fetus is declining;
  • there is "nesting syndrome";
  • the navel protrudes;
  • pay special attention to such signs of childbirth during the third pregnancy as false contractions, which can be almost invisible and begin only 3-4 days before the baby is born;
  • uncomfortable, painful sensations appear in the lumbosacral region.

As you can see, the harbingers of the third birth are not much different from the signs of the approaching delivery of the rest of the children. However, here it must be borne in mind that the point is not in the symptoms themselves, but in the timing of when they appear. For example, training contractions in the third birth can begin as early as 3-4 days before the birth of the baby, while in other cases it happens 10-14 days before that. Moreover, they will already be less painful and not so painful.

Stages

It is imperative to study in advance the information on how the third childbirth takes place in order to know how and at what stage to behave correctly.

Attempts

At this stage, complications may arise that are better to foresee and assume in order to avoid them altogether, or at least take appropriate measures in a timely manner. The features are as follows:

  1. The muscles of the uterus and the press in a woman giving birth for the third time are maximally stretched. As a result, their ability to quickly contract is markedly reduced.
  2. All this leads to the fact that after intense contractions, when the cervix opens up to 5 cm (approximately), secondary weakness of labor often occurs.
  3. It is characterized by a sharp decrease in the intensity of contractions, weakening of attempts, and sometimes labor activity may stop altogether.
  4. Rarely do such third births end on their own. Most often, doctors decide to stimulate a tired body with medication or cure.

Such a stubborn thing as statistics states that such cases (weakness of labor) account for about 35% of the total number of third births. A high enough percentage in order to reflect and take appropriate measures. To protect yourself from such a complication, it is recommended that you regularly perform Kegel exercises throughout pregnancy, as well as eat well, sleep and rest.

Department of the placenta

Many women argue about whether the third birth is easier or more difficult: for someone they pass quickly and almost imperceptibly, someone suffers almost the same way as during the first. However, everyone notes that the last stage of delivery - separation of the placenta - is quite difficult and painful. The reasons for this can be different:

  • the muscles of the uterus after a previous birth are stretched and not able to contract well;
  • pathologies: fibroids, polyps, scars, etc.;
  • if doctors diagnosed incomplete separation of the uterus, conduct its manual revision;
  • the weakness of the contraction of the uterus can lead to intense, rather prolonged bleeding, since blood clots in the third birth form slowly, the vessels do not overlap, the blood cannot stop;
  • Normally, a woman should not lose more than 0.5% of blood, and during the third birth it is quite possible, which often leads to anemia, a sharp drop in blood pressure.

Given the complications of pushing and separation of the placenta, it is difficult to say whether the third birth is easier than the previous ones. They just have their own characteristics that you need to know about and warn them in time.

What Do Doctors Think? The general opinion of doctors about third births is generally unambiguous. If a mom is under 35 and has no serious health problems, they go away much easier and easier than the previous ones. The body, possessing a unique memory, is ready for the upcoming stress, which it has already experienced twice. And the woman herself is psychologically more ready for this, which greatly facilitates the process of delivery.

Other features

If a woman has information, she should not have a question whether the third birth is different from the previous ones: of course, they have their own characteristics. In particular, they include such moments as:

  • according to statistics, they are less likely to lead to injuries, since the muscles of the vagina are stretched well enough for the baby's head to pass through the birth canal easily and freely;
  • if the previous birth ended in ruptures, in 50% of cases the scars in the third birth again diverge;
  • the third pregnancy and childbirth usually take place at a more mature age: this is good because the woman is already mentally ripe for raising a child, but not very good, because the body has time to wear out by this time, and the birth of a baby, as you know, is very strongly influenced by health mothers;
  • after 30 years during pregnancy, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, uterine fibroids, diabetes mellitus, heart and kidney problems are very often exacerbated, so you will have to constantly be under the closest supervision of a doctor for all 9 months.

These are the features of the third birth, which a woman should be aware of in advance in order to have time to prepare for them and not worry if the process is something different from previous childbirth.

Recovery period

For female beauty and health, it is very important how long it takes to recover after the third birth: the time period of this period is longer than in previous visits. This is explained by the fact that tissues lose their elasticity with age and can no longer regenerate as quickly as before. And lochia (postpartum discharge) can be boring for as long as 2 months, and the seams heal for a long time when ruptures, and stretch marks on the chest look terrible, and the excess weight does not want to go away.

From all this it is easy to fall into postpartum depression, which, however, a woman can avoid if she tunes herself in the right way. You just need to help the body recover during this period as quickly as possible:

  1. Do a variety of physical exercises.
  2. See a doctor regularly.
  3. Get enough rest, eat and sleep.
  4. Do not be nervous and do not worry.
  5. Perform breast massage regularly to avoid stretch marks, master the basics of proper feeding.

If you decide on a third birth, be sure to study the nuances of their course. Each case is purely individual, there are no general postulates. Nevertheless, a more thorough medical examination, high-quality preparation and assistance to one's own body during the recovery period will help smooth out all the roughness and avoid possible complications.

When the process of cervical dilatation or the rupture of amniotic fluid occurs earlier, it is a premature process.

Likewise, a woman giving birth for the third time may face weakness in labor. This is often due to severe stretching of the walls of the uterus or insufficient hormone production. It should be noted that this process is aggravated in some pathologies. These include polyhydramnios, oligohydramnios, inflammation, the presence of scars on the uterus, and so on. In these cases, doctors resort to the stimulation of labor after the 41st week.

However, after the outpouring of the amniotic fluid, normal contractions begin, which the expectant mother will not confuse with anything.

Many women say that they barely have time to arrive at the maternity hospital, as attempts have already begun. The average duration of a third birth is 2 to 5 hours. During this time, a woman has time to feel all the "delights" of the process, from abdominal prolapse and ending with the birth of the placenta.

As far as breast milk is concerned, it comes much faster the third time. If the first child had to wait for his food for about 3-4 days, then this time you can breastfeed the baby already on the delivery table with the first attachment.

Harbingers of childbirth, or is it time to go to the hospital?

Many expectant mothers, especially those who are expecting their first child, are afraid to miss the start of labor. It seems to them that everything can happen suddenly, and they simply will not have time to get to the hospital in time. Of course, some childbirths take place quickly, but their percentage is low, and in such a case, a woman always has 2 # 150; 4 hours left. Basically, the first birth lasts 10-12 hours, so the woman in labor will probably be in the reliable hands of specialists until the baby is born.

In addition, about 2 # 150; 4 weeks before the actual birth, under the influence of hormonal changes in the female body, processes occur that are called the harbingers of childbirth. Therefore, some time before the PDD (estimated date of birth), a woman should carefully observe herself and, having noticed certain symptoms, be ready for a very early meeting with her child.

Such lightness in the whole body was formed # 133;
All precursors of childbirth can be roughly divided into three groups, the first of which we will call relief. About half a month or a month before giving birth, the expectant mother notices that it has become easier for her to breathe, because her stomach has dropped a little (although it becomes more difficult to sit and walk, on the contrary). This occurs as a result of the insertion of the presenting part of the fetus into the entrance of the small pelvis and the deviation of the fundus of the uterus anteriorly due to a slight decrease in the tone of the abdominal press.

In addition, the appetite of the pregnant woman changes. Most often, it decreases, and a few weeks before giving birth, even those who are used to large portions of food begin to cut them. This, of course, affects the weight, which also decreases. Body weight can be reduced by 1 # 150; 2 kg. So the body is gradually preparing for childbirth.

You have to come to terms with this
The second group of signs of an imminent birth can hardly be called pleasant. Due to the increase in the pressure of the uterus on the bladder, the urge to urinate also becomes more frequent. In addition, hormones also relax the intestinal muscles, which can lead to upset stools. If the abdomen sank and the child has shifted downward, uncomfortable and even painful sensations in the lumbar region and pubis may occur. All this, as well as the neuroendocrine processes occurring in a woman's body immediately before childbirth, provokes emotional instability, in which periods of absolute apathy are suddenly replaced by violent activity. Many people have a nesting instinct at this very moment # 151; desire to bring the apartment in full order.

Kid on the way
The third group of precursors of childbirth clearly indicates that very soon the child will be born. The motor activity of the fetus changes significantly. In most cases, it decreases, because the grown crumbs have very little room for somersaults and somersaults, which are so characteristic at earlier stages of pregnancy. After the 30th week, the body begins to prepare for childbirth through false contractions, which are the training of the uterus before the hard work ahead of it. False contractions differ from real ones by irregularity, painlessness, and the absence of shortening the intervals between them.

The main signs of the onset of labor
It is not necessary for a woman to have all of these precursors at the end of her pregnancy. Usually, the expectant mother has 2 # 150; 3 signs of an impending birth, but in some cases they may be completely absent. Nevertheless, there are two main signs of the onset of labor, which certainly cannot be missed. Firstly, this is the appearance of regular contractions of the muscles of the uterus # 151; contractions. The rhythmic contractions feel like pressure inside the abdomen. The first contractions are often accompanied by a dull pain in the lower back or hips, and later become very similar to painful periods. Gradually, the pain increases, becoming stronger, although in the intervals between contractions it is absent. Real labor pains are repeated at first on average every 15 # 150; 20 minutes, and over time the interval decreases to 3 # 150; 4 minutes. After the appearance of regular contractions, it's time to go to the hospital. However, the moment of departure to the hospital to a large extent depends on how far away it is located and how quickly you can get there.
Secondly, labor can begin with the discharge or leakage of amniotic fluid. With a sudden and complete rupture of the fetal bladder, water is poured out in a stream. In multiparous, water can drain before the onset of regular contractions, without causing any painful sensations. In this case, you should go to the hospital immediately. If the water just started to leak, then there is still time left. If everything is fine with the baby, then the waters are clear and odorless. But about their turbidity and greenish color, it is imperative to inform the doctor so that he chooses the correct tactics for conducting childbirth and invites other specialists to the child in addition to the neonatologist.

The body of every woman # 151; individual, and every childbirth # 151; are unique. For some, they happen according to the textbook: with all the required stages and within 10 # 150; 12 hours, which are considered the norm. For others, everything happens rapidly: sudden strong contractions with short intervals and the equally rapid birth of a baby and discharge of the placenta. For others, the prelude to childbirth can be delayed. But in any case, the harbingers of childbirth will fulfill their destiny # 151; set up a woman to meet her baby soon.

Harbingers of childbirth in primiparous and multiparous (second-bearing)

By the end of the long and difficult path of pregnancy, each woman begins to receive from her body some signals about the upcoming birth, which are called "precursors of childbirth." For all future women in labor, this happens in different ways. However, there are some signs of impending labor that all women can feel. For some, they appear a couple of weeks before the baby is born, while others may feel these signals just a couple of days before giving birth. So what are these signs? when will the firstborn feel them? And at what time will there be precursors of childbirth in multiparous? Let's figure it out together.

When do the harbingers of childbirth begin?

From the 20th week of pregnancy. a woman can feel her uterus preparing for childbirth. The often occurring spasm of the muscles of the walls of the uterus, in which the abdomen becomes hard, means that training is underway for future childbirth. However, the harbingers of childbirth will come much later - a month or two weeks before admission to the hospital. Harbingers of childbirth in primiparas usually begin to appear earlier than in multiparous women. By the way, the harbingers of childbirth in second-bearing children often appear much later than in first-borns, and are less noticeable. This is due to the fact that the body of a multiparous woman is already "familiar" with the preparation for childbirth. Although sometimes it happens the other way around - everything is individual. So, the harbingers of childbirth can appear as early as 36-38 weeks of pregnancy. and just a couple of days before giving birth. Now let's see what these precursors are, and how they differ in first-born and multiparous.

What are the harbingers of childbirth?

  • 1. Abdominal prolapse. This is usually one of the first signs of an impending birth. At the same time, the bottom of the uterus falls, and, accordingly, the stomach. Sometimes a pregnant woman may not visually notice this, but on the other hand, it is easy to determine by sensations. After lowering the abdomen, it becomes easier to breathe. Such a nuisance as heartburn during pregnancy disappears for many mothers. But then there is frequent urination, tk. the baby presses on the bladder. Many future women in labor develop constipation. Such harbingers of childbirth in firstborns can come a month before important event, and in multiparous, the abdomen usually drops by the end of the term - by 38-39 weeks. If this is, for example, the upcoming third birth. precursors with abdominal prolapse may not occur at all. In such cases, pregnant women are prescribed some exercises that will help lower the fundus of the uterus.
    2. Changing the frequency of perturbations. Shortly before delivery, the baby moves differently. The kid either actively moves, or seems to freeze. So he, as it were, chooses the most suitable position for himself and prepares to leave.
    3. Back pain. Usually these are the harbingers of imminent birth. Immediately before contractions, a woman may feel pulling pains in the lower back and in the coccyx area. This is due to the fact that the child has gone down to the birth canal, and there is pressure on the muscles in the lumbosacral region. In most cases, painful precursors of childbirth in multiparous children occur a day or two before childbirth. And the first-borns can come earlier.
    4. Change in gait. Following the drooping of the abdomen, the woman's gait changes. She becomes "duck". This happens because the center of gravity shifts, and the woman, in order to hold the sagging belly, as if bends back when walking.
    5. Loose stools. At about 38-39 weeks, pregnant women notice the appearance of loose stools. The hormone estrogen is to blame for everything, which is actively produced in women before childbirth.
    6. Contractions of the uterus. Such harbingers of childbirth in primiparous may appear long before childbirth - at 34-36 weeks. Some pregnant women notice frequent cramps in the uterus, even from the 30th week. In multiparous women, the uterus begins to "tone up" a week or two before childbirth. Spasms of the uterine muscles can manifest themselves very often - up to several dozen times a day and last from several seconds to several minutes. In such cases, it does not hurt to see a doctor who will check the condition of the uterus and say whether it is time to collect things at the hospital.
    7. Weight loss. Many pregnant women may notice that they have lost weight a week or two before giving birth. Moreover, this can be quite noticeable - up to 2-3 kg. The fact is that closer to childbirth in a woman's body, the amount of "pregnancy hormones" - progesterone, which retains fluid, decreases. Accordingly, the swelling subsides, and the woman loses a little weight.
    8. False contractions. These precursors of childbirth in primiparous are not so noticeable than in second-births. At 37 weeks -38 weeks, a woman may feel pain in the lower back and coccyx. In this case, the uterus contracts, and the feeling of the first contractions is created. They can last for a few seconds or minutes. The difference between false contractions and real ones is that they do not have a certain periodicity. Regular contractions with approximately the same interval of time indicate the onset of labor.
    9. Discharge of the mucous plug. A few days before delivery, mucus is released from the vagina of a pregnant woman, similar to egg white, sometimes mixed with blood. These are the first harbingers of labor, signaling that the cervix has begun to open and labor is about to begin. Sometimes, if the discharge is scanty, then the mucous plug may not be noticed. These are the harbingers of the second birth. In rare cases, the mucous plug is released long before childbirth - in one to two weeks, and sometimes it leaves only during childbirth.
    10. Discharge of amniotic fluid. These are the most "talking" precursors before childbirth, in which a woman should immediately gather in the hospital. Water can drain slowly, that is, flow in the form of secretions, which is easy to notice, or "rush like a river." Usually these are impetuous harbingers of the second, third births, etc. In the firstborn, the amniotic bladder is often pierced by obstetricians when the cervix has already opened, and the water has not yet departed.

This can be said to be the top 10 harbingers of childbirth. They all appear in different time, and not all of the harbingers of childbirth can be felt by a pregnant woman. So, we know what precursors of childbirth are. Now let's see how the signs of the approaching birth of those who are going to give birth for the first time differ. from the harbingers of second birth. third births, etc. that is, from signs of childbirth in multiparous.

Harbingers of childbirth in firstborns

Anatomically, a nulliparous woman is different from a woman who has given birth. An inexperienced firstborn may not understand that the harbingers of childbirth have already come. That is, the signs of an approaching birth in primiparous appear smoothed out, disturbing the woman a little. In addition, from the list of precursors of childbirth, the firstborn can sense only 1-3, and this is absolutely normal.

Harbingers of childbirth in multiparous

In multiparous women, the body is already more experienced, and therefore the harbingers of childbirth, women preparing for the next childbirth, feel better than firstborns. Women feel the harbingers of imminent childbirth more vividly. For example, false contractions in multiparous women occur earlier and more intensely, and the discharge of the mucous plug is more abundant. In addition, second-bearing precursors of childbirth are felt much more in number. After all, an adapted organism reacts to every signal of an impending birth.

Finally, I would like to remind you that not all precursors of childbirth are equally felt by every woman, and many of them may not exist at all. Therefore, every expectant mother needs to learn to listen to her body so as not to miss the most important moments of preparation for childbirth. After all, if the mother hears the signal in time and is ready to meet the baby, the birth will be much easier.

How does contraction start before childbirth?

Contractions are contractions of the uterus necessary for the birth of a fetus. Distinguish between true and false contractions, false ones appear already from 20 weeks and become more frequent 2-3 weeks before childbirth (Braxton Hicks contractions).

Feelings during labor before childbirth

Symptoms of these contractions before childbirth are hardness and aching pains in the uterus, which quickly pass and do not lead to dilatation of the cervix. But contractions before childbirth and childbirth are similar, signs of the onset of labor pains are hardening and soreness in the lower abdomen, and the interval of contractions before childbirth can be different, they disappear and appear. Labor pains are those that last at intervals of 15 minutes or less.

How do contractions before childbirth happen?

The description of contractions before childbirth is different for each woman: these are aching pains in the lower abdomen, pain in the pelvis, in the lower back, the intensity can be different - from minor painful sensations, like during menstruation, to severe pains in the lower abdomen. A distinctive feature of false contractions and contractions before childbirth is their regularity and frequency. Contractions before childbirth can last from 5-10 seconds to a minute, and the frequency is gradually reduced: first, the interval is more than 15 minutes, and when the cervix is fully opened, it is shortened to 1-2 minutes. If the duration of contractions before childbirth and the interval between them is the same and is a minute, the cervix must be open and the baby is born.

Onset of labor - symptoms

The onset of labor isn't just about contractions. At first, there may be painful sensations in the stomach or intestines, similar to poisoning. Then irregular and mildly painful contractions of the uterus appear, which still do not lead to the opening of its neck, but the mucous plug comes out of it. This is yellowish or white mucus, but not watery discharge, which may rather indicate a premature discharge of amniotic fluid. If the discharge is watery, brown or mixed with blood, you must immediately go to the hospital.

How to identify contractions before childbirth?

To distinguish true contractions from false contractions, it is important to understand how contractions go before childbirth. It takes up to 12 hours on average to fully dilate the cervix. The cervix should open up to 10 cm, but this cannot happen right away. The opening is slow and begins with regular contractions that last a couple of seconds, are not very painful, and are repeated every 20 minutes.

A woman needs to time the time between contractions and, preferably with a stopwatch, note how many seconds the contraction lasts before childbirth. As the cervix opens, the interval between them shortens, and the contraction itself lasts longer. If the interval between contractions is about 2 minutes and lasts up to a minute - the cervix is fully opened, the baby will be born within half an hour, and at this time you need to be in the hospital. And so that childbirth is not taken by surprise, it is important to count the time between contractions and their duration.

Woman's behavior during contractions

First of all, with the onset of regular contractions, you need to go to the hospital. Upon admission, the doctor will examine the woman, determine how much the cervix has opened, and, if necessary, prescribe additional studies to determine the tactics of labor management. During the contractions themselves, a woman needs to relax and take the most comfortable position for herself. Until the cervix is completely open, you can not push, which means you can do something that will help you distract yourself. For example, breathe slowly and deeply and count the minutes between contractions in intervals and change to shallow breathing during the contraction itself.

A relaxing massage in the sacrum area or lightly stroking the abdomen also helps to relax, but you cannot take a bath or a hot shower. It is imperative to note the time when the amniotic fluid will drain - from this moment the child should be born within 24 hours, since a longer anhydrous period leads to infection and complications for both the mother and the child.

The contractions accompanying childbirth are the most frightening process for pregnant women. Even the childbirth itself, the progress of the child along the birth canal, they are not so scared as it is precisely the pain during labor, when the cervix opens. However, everything is very individual. Many women in labor describe how they feel during labor as normal and tolerable.

Many women who give birth again, spend the whole process of contractions at home and go to the hospital even when the cervix is almost open. But for those who are very difficult to endure pain, there are pain relievers that are used directly in the hospital according to the doctor's indications.

Labor contractions take place in three periods. Let's take a look at how they begin, how they proceed, and how this process can be facilitated by speeding up the opening of the cervix. Let's find out how to make the generic process quite bearable.

How do contractions start and progress?

The onset usually resembles the onset of menstruation. There is a pulling pain in the lower abdomen. These sensations are also often called false contractions. But the process of starting the contractions is very important, as it prepares the neck for the beginning of the opening.

At the first stage, the pain is not strong, with a frequency of 1 time in half an hour or an hour. Lasts only a few seconds. After that, most pregnant women lose a mucous plug, which is thick mucus mixed with blood. There is no need to be afraid of this. This just means that the neck has begun to open. Then there is pressure in the pelvic and perineum area.

This stage is much shorter in time. The neck opens faster and faster, and opens about 7 cm. During this period, the sensations can be quite painful and last up to 1 minute. And the intervals between them are only 2 - 5 minutes.

During this period, attempts are added to the contractions. The neck opens to its maximum - 10-12 centimeters. This is quite enough for the birth of a child.

When should you go to the hospital?

The moment when you need to go to the hospital is very important and responsible. In order not to miss it, you need to take into account the nature of the pain. When the moment of the beginning of the present birth process comes, the pain is no longer localized, but encircling. It is often compared to a wave. Painful sensations pass from the lower back to the anterior wall of the uterus.

At this time, the contractions are the longest (stage 1 of labor). In primiparous women, it can last 6-7 hours. At this time, the neck opens up to 3-4 cm.

If the birth is for the first time, you can stay at home until the interval between contractions is reduced to 5-7 minutes, then you need to go to the hospital. But this is in the event that the hospital is located next to the house. If the hospital is far away, it is better to leave early.

It is also necessary to go to the hospital if the interval is still long, but the pain is very strong and prolonged.

If the childbirth is repeated, then, as soon as the regular contractions begin, it is better to go to the hospital immediately. The fact is that repeated births are often rapid. Therefore, it is better not to hesitate.

True or false contractions. How to determine?

Of course, you need to learn to distinguish them. Many expectant mothers, in the last weeks of pregnancy, are eagerly waiting for labor pains to begin. And they often confuse true contractions with false ones.

False (Braxton Hicks contractions) - appear in some pregnant women, but not all, after 20 weeks of pregnancy. But they, unlike the true ones, do not open the cervix. They represent a pulling sensation in the lower abdomen, a manifestation of discomfort in the lower back. The uterus is very tense. It is easily felt if you put your hand to your stomach. The same sensations accompany the onset of true contractions, so primiparous women often easily confuse them.

How to reduce pain during labor?

Remember that pain can be reduced by simply changing your posture. It is not necessary to lie down at this time. For many, for example, it is easier to be on all fours. Someone can more easily endure the pain while standing on their feet, someone slightly dances. Take a position that helps you relax and makes you feel better.

While the contractions are rare and painless, you can try to get some sleep. Sleep will help you relax.

When the pain is strong, you need to take deep breaths, and then short exhalations (3-4 exhalations). When pushing, it will become easier if you breathe very often (like a dog).

For severe pain, use your thumbs to apply pressure to points located in the area of the anterior superior iliac spines. Feel for the most prominent parts of the pelvis. This is what they are. Place your hands along your hips at this time.

Most importantly, tune in to childbirth. Listen to your own feelings and think about the baby. It is also very difficult and difficult for him to overcome the birth canal. But together you will definitely manage to finally meet.

Recently, more and more often married couples who are already raising two children decide to give birth to one or more children. Today the site for moms supermams.ru will tell you, what are they - the third genera.

Third birth. Fears again

As practice shows, all more women deliberately decide to become a mother for the third or more time. Of course, there are cases, and they are not uncommon, when the child is unplanned, but from this no less desirable.

During pregnancy, a woman again worries so that the child is all right and healthy.

Childbirth in this case causes no less, and maybe more fears and doubts, since the woman already knows the whole "taste" of this process, how strong the painful sensations are during contractions, attempts and the very period of the expulsion of the child.

However, after the third birth, any woman can say that they significantly differ from the first and even from the second. What is their feature?

Third genera - what are they?

If the pregnancy proceeds without complications and pathologies, the future three-time mother is most worried about precisely labor pain. Although everyone says that unpleasant sensations are quickly forgotten when you look at your newborn baby, but the "sediment", as they say, remains.

Childbirth of the third child goes without unnecessary panic, but the pain is still strong.

From the physical point of view, the woman's body, carrying the third child, is already better prepared for childbirth, since the pelvic muscles are more stretched, and the birth canal is prepared for the child to pass through them. But there are third genera and its features:

  • The risk of bleeding increases due to the fact that the multiparous muscles are less elastic than during the first birth, so they contract more slowly. Consequently - muscles lose the ability to stop bleeding.
  • Poor placenta separation. Again, due to inelastic muscles, it is difficult for a woman in labor to give birth to the placenta herself, in this case, medical intervention is necessary.
  • Attenuation of the intensity of contractions. In the third and subsequent births, it is possible to reduce the intensity of labor, due to which the child may receive less oxygen. To eliminate such a woman in labor "help" in the third birth, stimulating contractions with medications.
  • Milk is abundant. In most cases, the mother's lactation is getting better very quickly.

Third birth: harbingers

Despite the fact that a woman's birth is not the first, their harbingers may differ, and a pregnant woman, due to hormonal disruptions, may forget what signs indicate an imminent birth. We remind you of the main ones:

  1. Bloody discharge, indicating a loose plug;
  2. Leaking amniotic fluid;
  3. Bowel cleansing (bowel disorder);
  4. The behavior of the baby in the stomach - just before childbirth, the baby may calm down, "preparing" for the birth;
  5. Abdominal prolapse. True, not all multiparous people do this.

The third pregnancy and childbirth are different from the previous ones. Harbingers may not be at all, labor can begin suddenly and proceed very rapidly, so listen to the slightest change in yourself.

What do women need to know when they are planning a third pregnancy?

If you want to get pregnant for the third time and become a mother, prepare for this stage of life in advance. The main reproductive organ is the uterus, it is she who will be the "house" for your baby, and at the right time, her muscles will help the baby to see the light for the first time, pushing it out of your body.

Several pregnancies and childbirths experienced affect the ability of the muscles of the uterus to contract normally(especially if the third birth is at 35 years of age or more), which can lead to difficulties during labor, and this is very dangerous for both you and the baby. To avoid such troubles, take care of the abdominal muscles before the third pregnancy, follow some of the recommendations of the supermams.ru website:

  • Strengthen the abdominal muscles before pregnancy;
  • Do not allow the accumulation of extra pounds, control your weight;
  • Strengthen your vaginal muscles with Kegel exercises;
  • During pregnancy, you may need to wear a belly band;
  • Take a contrast shower in the last weeks of pregnancy to keep your muscles toned.

In most cases, the expected date of birth does not coincide with the actual date: the muscles of the uterus are not so strong and do not hold the baby so well in the womb. So childbirth can happen 2-3 weeks earlier, than "predicted" by doctors and ultrasound. Because of this, it is better for you to prepare for childbirth in advance - to collect things for yourself and the child in the hospital - so that later, in a hurry, you will not forget anything.

Most often, third births have the best reviews: they pass faster, and labor pain is overshadowed by the joy of the birth of another loved one. When a miracle happens, it doesn't matter what the delivery is.
