Postcards using openwork napkins. DIY napkin dress

See what a simple but effective decorative element is a paper napkin dress. They can decorate a gift bag, a postcard, a box, or you can come up with a different, but no less interesting purpose for this dress.

In order to make a dress we need:

Napkin;

Scissors;

Pencil;

Curly scissors (but not required).

So, let's begin.

On the draft we draw our dress as we want it to be (with a deep neckline, with a boat neckline, with long, short sleeves, etc.).

Now we transfer our "pattern" to paper, from which the upper part of our dress will be and cut it out.

Now we take napkins available at home. It is good if they are multi-layered, but this is not necessary. You can make a skirt from two single-layer napkins of different colors.

Cut out two rectangles from napkins, fold the edges of the inner layer by about 1 cm inward.

We collect in the center, making some semblance of a bow, and fasten with tape so that its edges are on the seamy side of the upper part of the dress.

We fold our skirt to one side, fold it over. We make a belt out of paper (we cut it out with curly scissors) and fasten it to the back of the dress. The top layer of the hem of the skirt can be shortened relative to the petticoat.

That's it, now our napkin dress can be glued to the surface to be decorated!

For needlewomen who are engaged in creativity in the "scrapbooking" technique, it will be interesting to know how to make a dress from a napkin with their own hands.

We will tell you about two simple, in our opinion, techniques and methods of creating a paper dress.

We make a dress from napkins for postcards and decorations: how to make it yourself

We bring to your attention a simple but effective decorative element - a paper dress made from a colored napkin. It will be possible to decorate a gift bag with such a dress, it is perfect for a postcard, a box.

In order to create such an unusual dress, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • colored napkin;
  • sharp scissors;
  • plain paper;
  • simple pencil;
  • Scotch;
  • PVA glue;
  • scissors with curly blades.

Start making a dress using the scrapbooking technique. On a draft, draw a model and a drawing of your dress.

Now transfer your "pattern" to a piece of paper that will make up the top of your dress. Now cut it out.

Now take the colored paper napkins you have. It is good if they are multi-layered, but this is completely optional. You can also make a skirt from two single-layer napkins of different colors.

Cut two rectangles out of napkins, fold the edges of the inner layer about one centimeter inward.

How to create a beautiful openwork dress for a paper card

Such a romantic openwork dress made of napkins will decorate a postcard for any occasion. For the New Year, a white napkin is ideal as a base; for a birthday for a girl (or March 8), you can find a colored napkin or paint it yourself.
So the most important thing in this business is to find a paper napkin, or rather, two napkins.

Fold the lace napkin, not in half, but about three quarters, so that the top edge is fairly high from the bottom edge.

Now fold the napkin in half. Glue the inside of the folded lace napkin together. Fold back the top corner of the workpiece.

Cut a heart of the same size from white paper and the openwork part of the second napkin.

On a paper heart, glue a heart from a napkin. And then cut off the round sides of the heart on each side as in the example. Be sure to attach a paper heart to your skirt to measure the cut along the width of your top waistline.

Glue the top of the dress to the full skirt. Take a piece of a small satin ribbon, measure around your waist and glue it on.

From the second piece, make an additional part of the belt. Be sure to create notches at the ends of the satin ribbon for a more interesting look.

It remains only to decorate the dress with small beads and the incredibly beautiful decoration for the postcard is ready.

How to make an interesting postcard for a holiday with your own hands

Prepare the following materials and tools for work:

  • sharp scissors;
  • pencil;
  • PVA glue;
  • white and colored cardboard;
  • colored paper;
  • adhesive stasis;
  • paper napkins;
  • double sided tape.

Choose the three main details of the card that match the color of your card: the main background, the top of the dress, and the hem. The background should be of colored paper, the upper part of the outfit made of cardboard, and the hem of the skirt from a napkin.

Now cut a white A4 sheet of cardboard in half. From one part, make the base for the postcard. Fold the colored background paper in half and cut.

Now glue a rectangle of brightly colored paper onto the cardboard blank in the center. You should have a white border around the perimeter. Then cut out the desired bodice of the dress.

Use a colored paper napkin to make a dress skirt. Spread out the napkin and fold it so that the edge shows two to three centimeters. Now gather at the waist with an elastic band. Then smooth out the pleats at the hem nicely and secure to the cardboard base.

Now glue the bodice of the dress to the base. Decorate the finished structure with adhesive rhinestones. Your postcard with the dress is ready!

Today, paper dresses are at the peak of popularity. Every eminent fashion designer in his next collection necessarily uses this material, so there are often items from newspapers, toilet and wrapping paper among them. Naturally, in everyday life in such an outfit you will not go out into the street, but for an unusual photo shoot - this is exactly what you need. From this article you will learn how to make a dress from napkins with your own hands, what other materials can be used and what principles to follow.

How to create a paper dress?

You want to please your child and make an interesting outfit for some extraordinary celebration. Then carefully study this master class, which will describe step by step how to make dresses from napkins with your own hands for the competition.

Prepare the following materials to create a masterpiece:

  • Several packs of napkins or 20-30 pieces of newspapers.
  • A ruler.
  • A sewing machine.
  • A centimeter tape.
  • PVA glue.
  • Special Velcro.

Follow the instructions below to sew the outfit:

  • The first step is to measure your model.
  • It is better to start the process of creating a dress with a skirt. If you are using newspapers, then unfold them, fold them in two to make the product tight. Fold the paper in an accordion manner with 2 cm folds to create a ripple effect. Smooth all creases with a ruler.

Important! Please note that all newspapers must be the same size.

  • Place all the sheets together using a sewing machine or glue to create a long corrugated fabric. Attach around the edges of the Velcro.
  • Gather the top of the skirt to a size that fits your daughter's waist plus a small margin of 3-4 cm.
  • Attach newspapers in several layers to the top of the skirt and sew on a typewriter. It is imperative to do this so that the paper is securely held at the waist line.
  • Form the bodice of the dress directly on the model. Cover the bust, waist, back with small pieces of newspaper, glue the sheets together with an overlap. Remove excess pieces.
  • Cut out the neckline and armhole beautifully, make a straight vertical cut on the back, starting from the top edge.
  • Sew a strip of three-layer newspaper strip on both sides to the edges of the cut formed, then attach some Velcro to it.
  • Connect the skirt to the bodice so that the fasteners and slits match at the back.
  • We create the straps. Determine their estimated length. Make a corrugation from newspapers so that the length of the strip corresponds to the length of the straps with a margin of 4 cm. Gather the edges of the straps a little on a sewing machine, sew the straps to the product.

Important! Such a wonderful outfit can be made on your own in just one evening, spending a minimum of time and using the materials at hand that have long been lying around on the shelf. You can complement it with a belt made of paper, bright fabric, silk or satin.

How to make an outfit from napkins?

This section will describe in detail how to make a dress from napkins with your own hands, because of all the options for home creativity, the most popular is the assembly of paper models. With perseverance, imagination, a small set of tools, you can make something interesting yourself.

For a napkin product you will need:

  1. Pattern of the simplest dress.
  2. Thick wallpaper or whatman paper.
  3. 10 packs of 100 napkins in several shades.
  4. Threads and sewing machine.
  5. Velcro.
  6. PVA glue.

Sew the planned outfit according to the following scheme:

  1. Find in any fashion magazine a pattern for a thing with a minimum number of darts and seams. Transfer it to whatman or thick paper, making seam allowances.
  2. Immediately mark the cut on the front plank and add 2 cm on each side. Then Velcro will be sewn onto it for the convenience of putting on and taking off clothes.
  3. Sew the product along all seams, attach adhesive tape to the bar.
  4. Take napkins, carefully tear them with your hands into small pieces. Roll each piece into a small ball. Glue all the balls to the dress so that the paper is completely hidden under them. If you use napkins of several colors, you can make an original pattern out of them.

A dress made of paper napkins with your own hands is ready, you can go to a party or a photo session in it!

How to assemble a dress from colored paper?

Perhaps you have a large amount of colored or brown paper at home, then it's time to turn this pile into something interesting. You already know how to make a dress from napkins, but you will also like this idea, because it allows you to create a real masterpiece from scrap materials.

It will be useful for you in your work:

Important! If you are aiming for simplicity and want to save your time, then use 2D modeling. To do this, prepare a picture of the object on both sides, cut it out, connect all the parts with glue. Three-dimensional modeling involves the use of special programs. You will be able to create a volumetric image, then it will need to be converted into a paper copy.

  • Transfer the images of all parts to colored paper. Take scissors with rounded ends and draw them along the lines of the intended fold.
  • Number each part so that it will be easier to assemble later. If the parts will be connected using special valves, then number them better so that the inscriptions become invisible after assembly.
  • Cut all the pieces in sequence. Place them in a stack in the given order.
  • Coat all valves with glue, attach the parts to be glued to each other and press firmly with your fingers. Wait for the glue to dry, and only then start gluing the next part.
  • Leave the model to dry completely.

Important! If desired, the finished dress can be decorated with some decorative elements, such as beads, rhinestones, sparkles, bright ribbons.
