Kids love to eat it. Choose the recipe for an omelette for a 1 year old that involves steam cooking or baking without adding soda. So you get the perfect tandem - taste plus benefits.
Eggs are considered one of the main components of the children's menu. They contain essential amino acids, vitamins B, E, A, D. The product is a source of phosphorus, potassium, calcium. All these substances are needed to maintain the functions of a growing organism.
Despite the benefits of eggs, they are a common food allergen. When including a product in the diet of crumbs, it is important to monitor how a fragile body reacts to it.
When to try
From how many months can you give an omelette to a child? If a we are talking about a dish according to a traditional recipe, then pediatricians unanimously agree on this issue: from 12 months. Although acquaintance with the main ingredient of the dish - eggs - occurs earlier. Doctors allow boiled yolk to be introduced into the diet of crumbs from the age of eight months. From this age, it is allowed for the baby to eat half the yolk every two days.
Protein can appear in the diet only after a year, because it belongs to allergen products. These recommendations of pediatricians, in fact, are the answer to the question of at what age you can give your child an omelet. Traditionally, the dish is prepared from proteins and yolks, so it should not be prepared for a baby under one year old. However, if you choose the option where only yolks are used, then you can offer the little fidget an airy dish even earlier - from eight months, instead of a boiled yolk.
Is it possible to make an omelette one year old baby, determined by the tendency of the baby to allergic reactions. Usually by the year the child's body does not react so violently to allergens. It's easy to check - give no a large number of eggs: not necessarily in the form of an omelet. Suggest boiled. If there is no allergy, then you can introduce the child to new dishes that involve changing the consistency of a familiar product.
The ideal option for an egg dish for a one-year-old baby is steam. When can a child be given an omelette cooked in a pan? Pediatricians recommend postponing acquaintance with the fried version of the dish until three years of age when the child's digestive system gets stronger.
Product selection: 4 rules
An omelet for the little ones should be useful. Of particular importance is right choice products. Remember the four rules.
- Eggs are fresh. Buy the main component only in trusted places. Chips, cracks on the shell are unacceptable, as well as gurgling inside is unacceptable.
- Milk is baby. To prepare the dish, special milk is taken - baby. If you plan to add rustic cow's milk to the dish, it must be boiled first.
- Additives - low allergenic. When adding vegetables, it is important to know for sure that the baby is not allergic to them. Rashes in crumbs can, for example, provoke a red tomato. First introduce the baby to the product, and then add it to the dishes.
- Salts - minimum. Children's food is desirable not to salt. If you decide to add salt, it should be at least. But seasonings are taboo.
If the baby has a predisposition to allergies, then it is better to replace chicken eggs, which are considered a highly allergenic product, with quail eggs. The reaction to quail eggs is rare, but the benefits are the same. It is easy to adapt recipes to the product: quail eggs are taken twice as much as indicated in the recipe, which involves the use of chicken.

4 cooking tricks
To make an omelet lush, tender, tasty, you need to know some tricks. Memorize four of them, and the baby will be delighted with the dish.
- Beat egg whites separately. If you are preparing a children's omelette with the addition of proteins, then it is recommended to beat part of it separately, and then pour them into the "general" mixture. This will give the dish airiness.
- Add butter. If you add a piece of butter to the base of two ingredients, you can get an incredibly delicate taste and light texture.
- Cook with multiple eggs. So the dish will definitely turn out magnificent. Offer the baby a part taken from the middle - it is the most tender.
- Don't rush to post. Regardless of the method of preparation, the dish cannot be immediately laid out on plates. You need to keep it covered. If the dish was cooked in the oven, it is not recommended to immediately open the door. Hurry - and the omelet will settle.
An omelet for a one-year-old child can be prepared with the addition of sour cream. It is used instead of milk. On sour cream, eggs rise slightly, but the dish will have a pronounced creamy taste. If the baby refuses the dish, come up with interesting presentation: let the baby see a flower or the sun in his plate.
The diet of the child is compiled so that it contains the optimal amount of vitamins, trace elements and minerals. Chicken eggs meet these requirements in full. Protein and yolk have a unique composition, which contains vitamins A, D, C, D, E, K, amino acids, minerals (calcium, phosphorus). The yolk supplies iron to the baby's body.
The best egg dish for kids is scrambled eggs. Despite the undoubted benefits of chicken eggs, their overabundance in the diet can cause allergies. A one-year-old baby is allowed to eat this product no more than 1-2 times a week. When preparing an omelette, use eggs that you are 100 percent sure are fresh. Take special baby milk. If you have the opportunity to buy milk from under a cow, be sure to boil it.
Omelet is very useful for a child, as eggs contain a large amount of vitamins.Chicken or quail: which egg is better for a child?

Quail are digested more easily, they are less allergenic, strengthen the immune system. Chicken eggs are hypoallergenic. If the baby gave a negative reaction to them, replace them with quail. True, they are smaller in size, so they will need 2 times more.
When compiling a menu for crumbs older than 1 year, you will have to take into account its taste (see also:). The time when the baby was content with mother's milk or formula is gone. Today in front of you is a little fussy, who has his own taste and preferences. However, many children love omelets. The duration of cooking will be determined by the power of the stove, and on average it will be from 3 to 5 minutes. If you are cooking an omelette for the first time, keep an eye on its readiness. If you decide to make an omelet in the microwave without milk, beat the yolks separately, and then the whites, and then combine them.
In a double boiler
Take two eggs and two tablespoons of milk. Whisk these ingredients with a little salt. Lubricate the mold with butter, pour the egg-milk mass into it and put it in a double boiler. After 10-15 minutes, you can treat the baby with a delicious steam omelette.
In the oven
Such an omelette will turn out to be very magnificent if you do not open the oven during its baking for at least the first twenty minutes (then the dish will not settle). The omelet mold should only be filled halfway with the egg and milk mixture, as the original volume will double as it cooks.
Recipes with additives
If you want to cook an omelette with some kind of filling for your child, the ingredients for it should be prepared separately and added to the omelet in ready-made. For example, it can be frozen or fresh vegetables, which are first stewed over low heat in a cauldron or in a slow cooker, and then poured with beaten eggs with milk.
For a sweet fruit omelette, take one egg, 50 ml of milk and 100 g of fruit. Apples are great as fruit for an omelet. Take one large apple, peel and cut into slices, then stew in a small amount butter. Pour apples with beaten eggs and milk, and you can sprinkle a little grape sugar on the finished omelet.
Another interesting option for an omelette for a child older than a year is a dish with meat. For it, you need boiled chicken fillet, which is laid out in a heat-resistant form, poured on top of two beaten eggs with a small amount of milk, and then steamed or in the oven. Also, children older than a year will like an omelet with pasta, cottage cheese, low-fat cheese.
- A fresh chicken egg should not be light, and when shaken inside the egg, nothing should gurgle.
- The color of the shell does not affect the quality of the egg in any way, but in a fresh product, the shell will have a slight sheen.
- Do not buy eggs for children's omelette in questionable places. It is better to buy them from a trusted seller or store, making sure that the appropriate labels are on the product.
- Do not buy eggs that are cracked or chipped, or very dirty or washed eggs. Remember that washed eggs are stored less, as washing removes the protective film from the shell and the egg begins to deteriorate.
- Don't assume that the largest eggs are the best choice. Larger eggs contain more water and fewer nutrients, as these eggs are laid by older hens. It is best to take eggs of the second category for the baby (they are carried by young hens and such eggs have a very pleasant taste) or the first category (they have the most balanced composition).
At home, you can easily check if an egg is fresh by putting it in cool water. A good egg will sink, and if the product is not fresh, the egg will float.
