In general, you can use any improvised materials that you have. There are no restrictions.

First you need to collect all the material for work. Prepare everything.

Shells can be brought from the sea, or can be bought at a needlework store.

Actions:

  1. It is necessary to disassemble the shells by size and type. Rinse and dry all shells properly.
  2. Shells can be dyed with mordant to give them a darker and more saturated shade.
  3. If there is no stain, you can use a strong solution of potassium permanganate, then you get a color from dark red to brown, depending on the strength of the solution. It is easier and faster to cover the shells with acrylic paints.
  4. The shade of paint is selected at will, in accordance with the concept and pattern of the picture. For example, in yellow to create the sun from shells, and for flowers you need to paint the shells in pink, red.
  5. Before you stick the shells on the panel, the paint must dry, or it will smear. You can, of course, paint the shells after they are fixed on the panel. But it might not be very accurate.

If none of the above is on hand, you can take nail polish to give the shells a shade. Mother-of-pearl varnishes look especially impressive.

You need to take a wooden frame, you can use a photo frame. It can also be covered acrylic paint.

The board or plywood should be even, in order to achieve this, you should walk along the surface with sandpaper. The board should be adjusted to fit the frame.

How to make an unusual panel

You can make a panel abstract, that is, just stick shells various forms in a chaotic manner, or you can arrange the shells into a pattern.

For example:

  • Flowers;
  • Wood;
  • Ship;
  • Doll;
  • A car;
  • Seascape, etc.

The next stage is a sketch of the panel, made in any way. You can not only draw a freehand drawing with a pencil or paints, but also find a photo you like on the Internet or scan beautiful picture, photo or even a postcard. With the help of the program Adobe Photoshop you need to make the image contour.

It should be understood that the sketch should not have many small details, since the shells themselves are very original and interesting stuff which looks impressive in various compositions. But if you really want to, then for small details you can use crumbs from shells.

Beginners to create in this direction should take simple drawings, with a small amount details.

Print the image in accordance with the dimensions of the panel being executed, the next step.

Then you need to draw a picture on the board using carbon paper.

However, this is not a mandatory step; beginners usually do this. Or when the drawing is incredibly complex. You can simply compose a composition directly on the panel.

Step-by-step instructions: do-it-yourself shell paintings

After preparing all necessary materials, you can start working on the panel.

Walkthrough:

  1. We paint the frame with stain, potassium permanganate or acrylic paints. The frame must be completely dry. A white and blue frame is well suited for a marine-themed panel.
  2. We insert the board or plywood into the prepared frame.
  3. As a background, use a grid, fabric, sand, burlap.
  4. We cut out the mesh prepared for the panel, fabric or burlap according to the size of the frame. Attach it with glue. It is convenient to use a special glue gun. If creating a panel is a hobby, then you should spend money and buy a glue gun, it is not expensive, but very convenient, since the glue is fed neatly, in small portions. This will prevent the glue from spreading.
  5. The next stage is the main, most exciting and interesting. We make a panel of shells and other materials directly on the panel. We carefully attach each part with glue.

We process the composed panel with acrylic varnish. This will allow the panel to look more finished, in addition, the details painted with varnish shimmer beautifully in the sun.

Panel of shells with a background of sand

A panel of shells on the sand is a panel whose background is sand. Instead of sand, you can use any grain.

The first stages of the frame and the board are performed in the usual way. Then we apply PVA glue to the board. The next step is to apply sand or grain in an even layer, press it as tightly as possible to the board so that it sticks well. Then you should wait a couple of hours until completely dry.

For shine, it is good to cover the sand with varnish and let it dry.

After that, we compose a composition in a marine style, using shells directly, as well as materials combined in theme and style (beads, stone beads, dried starfish). We glue everything to the base with glue.

You can lay out the details randomly, or in the form of a picture, for example, in the form of a ship.

The creation of eco-decor has become the most popular today. In this master class, you will learn how to create a sea panel from natural materials yourself. Seafood will serve as its basis. After a summer holiday at sea, many accumulate a variety of shells, sea stars and pebbles from which you can make an original panel.

To create a panel you will need:

  • four wooden branches;
  • various pebbles, shells and starfish;
  • sackcloth;
  • scissors;
  • parchment paper (for the base);
  • brushes;
  • glossy acrylic varnish;
  • brown acrylic paints;
  • gypsy needle;
  • leg-split;
  • glue gun.

1. To begin with, we determine the size of the panel. We trim our branches so that they are the same length. In this case, the branches are 30 cm long. Then we paint them with brown acrylic paint along the entire length.

2. While the branches are drying out, we are engaged in burlap. We measure an even square 32x32 cm. We iron and smooth the edges with a well-heated iron.

3. We take parchment paper and tear off uneven edges, creating the basis for our panel.

4. During this time, the branches covered with acrylic paint have dried out. Next, we can glue them with a glue gun, forming a square. For reliability and decor, we additionally wrap the branches with twine.

5. When the frame under the panel is ready, we thread the twine into a large needle and sew the burlap to the frame. We try to make neat, identical, large loops around the entire perimeter of the frame.

6. Then, using a glue gun, we attach the base of parchment paper to the center of the burlap. And now, the most interesting. We turn on our imagination and glue various sea pebbles, stars and shells to the base, as we like. We start decor from large elements. We finish by filling the voids with small pebbles and shells.

7. When the decoration with shells and pebbles is completed, we cover them with varnish to add shine.

8. Now we take a small piece of twine and attach it to the two ends of the panel so that we can hang the panel on the wall. That's all, the marine panel is ready.

I hope it finds its rightful place in your interior!
