A box of disks. Original box from old CDs

It is necessary: disks are unnecessary, a beautiful dense box, scissors, glue, ordinary tile grout. Will:

Putting together everything you need. There are nuances. With a thumb on your right hand you have to say goodbye for two days - you will be numb from cutting. You can also say goodbye to scissors. They say that discs can be heated, then they are easier to cut. I didn't succeed, so I cut without anesthesia. Disks must be of decent quality or generally licensed. Ordinary blanks crumble and peel, disks from computer toys or from exhibitions (like mine) go well.

We cut the discs into pieces pleasing to the soul. For those who are not lazy, you can cut with an ornament. We glue it on the box. Dry.

After drying, we rub the seams between the pieces with ordinary grout for joints, tiled. You can putty.

After the grout dries, remove the excess. Discs are scratched a little while doing this, yes. But it is only noticeable to the master-maker. Remains in the corners - neatly with sandpaper. Everything.

Do you have old, unnecessary CDs lying around at home and want to throw them away? Take your time with this, you can make a box out of them that will serve you for many years.
To make the box, we need:
- 4 CDs.
- Cardboard.
- Pencil.
- Ruler.
- Glue.
- Scissors.
- Textile.
- Needle.
- Threads in the color of the fabric.
- Household foam sponge (dishwashing sponge).

Take the fabric, put it down face side on the table, put a disk on top and cut out a circle, taking into account allowances of 1.5-2 centimeters. We will make cuts at the allowance.

Apply glue to the allowance and bend it so that the material sticks to the disc. We do this with all disks. It doesn't matter which side you put the disc on the cloth, you won't see it later.

We put the two discs together so that the material is out. Discs can be glued together or stitched together. I used the second method.

This will be the lid of the box. Let's put it aside for now. Now we need cardboard. Cut a strip of the desired height from it. This will be the wall of the box. What will be the height depends on you. I made a height of 8 centimeters plus 1.5 centimeters added to connect to the bottom.

Yes, since the length of the cardboard was not enough for me, I had to add it. Along the line of the allowance, slightly pressing on the cardboard, draw with scissors and cut the allowance so that we get triangles. Let's bend them.

Take the fabric and cut a strip from it. The width of the strip should be twice as large as the width of the cardboard blank (I have a blank height of 8 centimeters, so the width of the strip from the fabric came out to me 16 centimeters), only the allowance is not taken into account, and the length is exactly on the blank.

Now we spread glue on the fabric and glue it onto the cardboard. As a result, you should have the fabric glued on both sides of the cardboard blank, except for the allowance.

Now we glue the edges of the workpiece, grease the allowance with glue and glue it to one disk. For reliability, all joints can be stitched with a needle and thread. Now the walls are not even, but it can be solved. To do this, I put a bottle of water inside the box and left it there until the glue was completely dry.

We insert the second disc inside the box so that the fabric on it is outward, so we will close the allowance from the cardboard blank.

Now is the time to start decorating the lid. To do this, take a colored foam sponge and cut out 7 petals for a flower from it. The edges of the petals can be cut slightly with scissors, so the flower will look more beautiful.

We glue the petals on the lid.

Now let's take a sponge of a different color, I took a red one. Cut a small rectangle from it and cut a fringe from it without cutting it to the edge. Roll it up into a tube and glue it in the center of the flower, fringe up.

In our time of computers and digital technologies, every person has a certain number of CDs that are not needed, but still stored. Many find original applications for them, these are all kinds of stands, decoration for cars and many other interesting things. By themselves, such discs are interesting for their sparkling appearance. Today we will tell you how to arrange casket using unnecessary discs as mosaic material.

For work we need:
- box,
- discs (the number depends on the size of the box 4-6 pieces),
- sharp scissors,
- the template on which the mosaic pattern is applied,
- a marker, which is used to write on discs,
- alcohol solution,
- PVA glue, grout,
- decorative paper.

We took as a box wooden box in the shape of a heart, but any other can do, even cardboard, the main thing is that the cardboard is strong and does not bend, the box must be easy to open and close, otherwise the mosaic will quickly come off.

Such a mosaic can be used to decorate other objects in the house, for example, a mirror looks very original in this design - shiny mosaic visually increases its size and it seems that the frame itself is mirrored.

It is more convenient to work with factory discs, which are often supplied in a set to mobile phones or office equipment. Such discs have one side with a logo or pictures with advertisements, while the other is clean, with a mirror-like silvery tint, and in the light it gives reflections of all the colors of the rainbow. Simple blanks are unsuitable for such work, since they delaminate when cut. Yes, and these should be cut very carefully with very sharp scissors, since they can burst in unnecessary places, and then you will have to use more discs. It is also worth looking at the shades of the discs so that individual fragments of the mosaic do not stand out from the overall picture.

The work of cutting out individual pieces of the mosaic is quite difficult, so it is worthwhile to pre-seal the places where the fingers touch the scissors with adhesive plaster, otherwise blisters cannot be avoided, also choose strong scissors, preferably without plastic rings.

To select a mosaic pattern, circle the box on a piece of paper and draw a picture on this leaf that we want to post. Then we divide the entire drawing into segments that are small in size and preferably in the form of regular geometric shapes, this is necessary for the convenience of cutting the disks. At oval shapes or with bends, they often burst and deteriorate. We have got a rose with a bud. Large parts should be divided into several small ones, then it will be easier to cut and the look of the finished product will be more interesting.

To transfer the pattern to a disc, you can use glass and a disc marker, don't be afraid to draw thick lines on the discs themselves, they can then be removed well with an alcohol solution or nail polish remover. The finished parts can be immediately laid out on the box, just put it on a rigid base so as not to inadvertently break the mosaic. Gradually, the whole mosaic is laid out, it is worth watching the seams, they must be uniform, then we will remember them with grout.

When all the pieces are ready, just we take glue and glue each piece in its place... The simplest will be PVA, as we said at the beginning, but you can use any glue other than silicate glue, you just need to try it on a piece first, since some adhesives can dissolve the thin plastic of the disc. We also paste over the sides of the box, here you can use rectangular strips of different widths.

Carefully wipe the inscriptions with a marker that remained.

It remains to wipe the joints, take a little grout, dilute it and rub the seams.

When it dries, gently sponge wipe the leftovers from the discs.

Left decorate the inside of the box... To do this, simply paste over it inside with paper for wrapping gifts.

The box is ready.

The article gives several ideas on how to make many useful things out of CD disks: a box, a candlestick, a photo frame or a roof covering.

Many have accumulated old CD disks, which become obsolete or become unusable. Of course, you can throw them away, but it is better to store them, and at one point use them for a global project, for example, to cover the roof. And from a small amount, you can make interesting crafts.

Original roof covering made of discs

If you have a lot of such material, then you can make a roof covering from old discs. It will look literally brilliant, and even will not let moisture inside the room due to correct location elements.

The disks must first be attached to wooden base, for example, to the plywood, and then to the roof. For laying one square meter, 120 pieces are needed. They need to be fixed using this technology.

Place the discs end-to-end in the first row so that there are no gaps. In the second place relative to this in checkerboard so as to cover the holes of the first. The third row will also be staggered relative to the second, with overlapping holes. This is how a scaly roof is made from old discs.

Those who have accumulated a lot of unwanted vinyl records can also implement a similar technology, but using them.

However, back to the idea of what can be done from old disks. When laying them, make small holes. Secure the parts with small nails or screws.

Come up with a pattern that will help you lay such an impromptu tiled roof. You can place discs with both matte and glossy side up.

If you do not have enough discs or records, then you can lay them not on the roof of the house, but on the visor.

See how the English artist Bruce Monroe came up with the idea of using old discs. According to him, he wanted to strengthen natural beauty garden like this. It took him 65,000 discs to make the water lilies.

It is unlikely that you will have that much in stock, so you can make small water lilies or decorative elements for your home.

Hard curtains from disks with your own hands

They will not need to be washed, it is enough to brush off the dust sometimes. Such curtains will decorate the room, add positive notes to it.

The manufacturing process is extremely simple. For it you will need:
  • CD disks;
  • paper clips;
  • drill.
Using the latter, punch holes in the two discs, placing them closer to the outer edge. Now join these 2 discs with paper clips, attach the third to the second in the same way, and so on. You can make the curtain rectangular or the way it was made in the photo. For each of the top three rows, 6 discs were used, for the fourth - 5, for the fifth - 4, the sixth took 3, the seventh 2, and the last eighth consisted of only one disc. In total, to make 2 such curtains with your own hands, you will need 66 discs, for one 33 will be enough.

Such curtains can be easily fixed on the eaves, for this you need sharp stationery knife walk along the markings for the larger inner circle, then squeeze it out with your fingers to enlarge the hole. You can also use a drill for this purpose. In the same technique, holders of curtains for the bathroom are made from old discs.

You can also make curtain tiebacks using the same material.

Place a smaller, round object on top of the disc. Holding it, trace it with a knife, then cut along the markings with scissors.

The resulting ring is decorated satin ribbon, with which it just needs to be wrapped.

You can decorate the curtain tiebacks with satin flowers made using the kanzashi technique, and attach the rings to the curtains using sushi sticks. They can be painted or also rewound with a satin ribbon, gluing it.

Beautiful crafts from CDs

Even from very old discs, you can make christmas toy using fragments untouched by time. Cut pieces out of this material, which then glue to Christmas ball by the type of mosaic. Wipe off excess glue with a cloth.

In the same technique, you can decorate the collar of a blouse. For him, the disks are also cut into fragments. Then they need to be glued to the fabric.

To make a frame for a photo with your own hands, prepare:
  • thick cardboard;
  • PVA glue;
  • CD disks;
  • scissors;
  • black paint in a tube with a fine tip.
Make 2 identical rectangles out of cardboard. At the first, draw a circle or a 4-sided inside, cut out. Glue this cardboard with an inner hole onto the second one, which is solid. Glue together only 3 of their sides, leave the top ones free. Through the resulting gap, you will put a photo or painting into a frame.

Cut the discs into separate pieces with scissors. Apply PVA to the photo frame - a small area of it, attach the resulting pieces here.

Let your art dry, then fill in the gaps with tube paint. When it dries up, then you can use the frame for its intended purpose.

And just one disc can be used to make a candlestick. For it you will need:
  • glass balls;
  • 1 disc;
  • super glue or other designed to work with these materials;
  • candle.
The photo shows the stages of work, which clearly show how do-it-yourself candlesticks are made.

Pour balls over the outer outline of the circle. Glue the second row on top of these, placing its elements in a checkerboard pattern. Thus, create 4 chains. It remains to attach a candle with hot wax and you can plunge into the romantic atmosphere.

Jewelry box of own production

It is made from the same material. Here's what it took to create this needed thing:
  • 3 discs;
  • the cloth;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • needle with thread;
  • scissors.
Take a piece of paper, compasses. Draw 2 circles. The inner one will be equal to the diameter of the disc with a small margin - 12 cm, and the outer one - 20 cm. In this case, the height of the box is 8 cm, you can change this value at your discretion.

Divide both circles into 16 equal sectors. To make it easier for yourself, first divide in half, then into 4 parts, then into 8 and 16.

Transfer the pattern to the fabric or draw on it right away. You need to make 2 of these blanks from the canvas. Now sew along the markings, making 16 stitches from the outside to the inside. Put a synthetic winterizer in the pockets formed. Sew up the top of the disc box.

If you want to make handles, then weave a braid from three strips of fabric.

To make a lid for the box with your own hands, fold two canvases of fabric in a pile, place on a disc, draw with chalk, cut out with a 7 mm seam allowance on all sides. Place these fabrics over the top and bottom of the disc. If you want the lid to be soft, then cut out two circles of padding polyester and place the disc first with them and then with fabrics. Blindstitch around the edges.
