Relevance of the topic

Crochet has been known to mankind for a long time. It has not lost its relevance even in the industrial age, where the manufacture of various products is carried out using machine knitting. Girls, women and grandmothers are also fond of this activity in order to create something necessary or original. Nowadays, needlewomen have access to a large selection of texture and composition of yarn, which allows them to fantasize and provides an opportunity to create beautiful things.

In technology lessons, I learned some crochet techniques, and I would like to put this knowledge into practice. Reviewing everything necessary materials, I stopped at the section - "Openwork crochet." In this work, I want to try to consolidate the skills of openwork knitting and apply flat knitting in volume.

For this, I found an interesting model - a tea set.

Historical reference

Since ancient times, trying to decorate their life, people have sought to use the simplest materials to combine simple forms and tools with unpretentious patterns, while achieving high skill. Hand knitting initially appeared as a simple utilitarian necessity, later it turned into a real art. In countries with harsh climates, women spent long winter evenings, knitting warm, beautiful and original clothes for household members. Southerners saved themselves from the sun with hats, umbrellas, shawls and gloves, tied with their own hands, which did not require large expenses for their manufacture - only threads and a hook. Having these accessories, you can knit anything: tablecloths, napkins, linens, clothes, shoes and toys, window curtains and towels, rugs, bags, hats and gloves, blankets, bedspreads and pillows, even some pieces of furniture and jewelry.

Crocheting is the process of manually making a cloth or lace from threads using a crochet hook. Crochet has been known for a long time. Initially it was an exclusively male craft, but gradually it became a typical female occupation. It is very difficult to accurately establish the history of knitting, since it is difficult to preserve the threads and knitwear. Still, some evidence of this art has come down to us in the form of images. In one of the Egyptian pyramids, an image of a woman putting on socks was found, dating from historians 1900 BC. NS. In the tomb of another pyramid, children's knitted stockings have been preserved, attributed by scientists to the 3rd - 4th centuries. n. NS. ... These findings are kept in the Friedrich Museum in Berlin and in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. And in the museums of Detroit and Badel, you can see samples of ancient Egyptian knitting from cotton threads with ancient Arabic texts. The complexity of the drawings, the subtlety of details and colors indicate the highest technology knitting. A very interesting find was found in the frozen lava of Pompeii - an imprint of a knitted stocking, attributed by archaeologists to 79 AD. NS.

In the 15th - 16th centuries, knitting spreads quite actively throughout Europe and gradually turns first into a makeshift home craft, and then into a profitable industry: stockings, socks, gloves, hoods, sweaters, hats are knitted. Knitted masterpieces of masters are recognized as art and go to museums. In Sweden, in the Northern Museum of Gothenburg, two of the most valuable exhibits are kept - knitted sweaters XVII century. Knitting shops are organized. It was at this time that the famous Scottish headdress appeared and quickly became popular - knitted beret... In 1589. Woolbridge Parish Assistant William Lee invented the first knitting machine... Queen Elizabeth I of England did not like the invention. Lee moved to France and opened the first knitwear workshop in Rouen. However, the more the market was filled with machine-made products, the more handwork was valued.

Ideas base

There are many crocheted works in the world. Depending on the idea, we can get various kinds of products.

Description

Option number 1

The most common type of knitting. It is practical, but also more time consuming to manufacture.

Option number 2

To manufacture it requires a lot of painstaking work. Not all people like to use knitted jewelry.

Option number 3

An option that allows you to give any thing new image... It takes a lot of time as it is a voluminous job.

Option number 4

It can decorate any room, giving it originality and lightness.

Output: So, having analyzed the possible options, option number 4 (tea set) seems more suitable, in my opinion. Since it allows you to combine different types of knitting and demonstrate all the skills that I have acquired over the years of studying crochet technique at school.

Choice of materials

When choosing materials and tools, you must remember the following rules:

  1. Depending on the thickness of the yarn and the diameter of the hook, the products are different in size or volume. The thicker the yarn, the larger the product.
  2. Each hook diameter has its own yarn thickness.
  3. Depending on the quality of the yarn, a hook of the appropriate material is selected (plastic, aluminum, iron, etc.).

Yarn

The yarn for knitting the service must be thin and strong in order to maintain the shape of the item. To select a more suitable yarn, I looked at several options:

Output: So, I choose 100% cotton yarn "Snowflake". For knitting, I take white, as it will convey the subtlety and grace of porcelain dishes.

Hook

Hooks are different:

Scheme 3

metal wood bone plastic

They differ in length: short (12-15 cm) and long (20-40 cm). The thickness of the hook is very important for work. It can be from 1.0 to 15.0 mm and is reflected by a number corresponding to the thickness of the head. Metal hook No. 1 fits my yarn.

Pattern classification

All kinds of drawings are obtained using a few simple elements. The minimum structural knitting unit is a loop. In crochet, it is called an air loop. Loops of another type are called posts. Any element of crocheting technique is performed in three stages: threading a hook through the work, throwing threads on it and tying a loop. Depending on how these stages are performed, various knitting elements are obtained, and it can also be different in terms of density of execution:

f) Handle

Tie a chain 12 cm long and tie RLS, and then also in a circle tie 1 row of pico on the leg, 3 VP, pico from 3 VP through 3 loops of the previous row. Complete 3 handles.

5. Assembly and starching

A very important stage of work is starching with a sugar solution (3 teaspoons of sugar per 1 teaspoon of water). Put on low heat, not boiling, stirring continuously until all the sugar is dissolved. Dip the washed and bleached products in a sugar solution. Then quickly pull it over the matching cookware. For pulling, use ordinary threads, use them to tie the top of the products and pull tightly. Allow the products to dry well, and then carefully remove from the dishes, then sew on the parts, connecting the lower and upper parts, as well as the spout and handles.

Calculation of product costs

Knitting an openwork tea set does not involve huge costs. To complete this work you will need:

  1. Material costs
  1. Hook number 1 - 15 rubles;
  2. Knitting threads "snowflake" white (2 pcs.) - 2x35 = 70 rubles.

The total cost of purchasing materials is:

15 rubles (hook) + 70 rubles (threads) = 85 rubles

  1. Work time

The tea service time was not specifically tracked. Approximate term of work - 1 month.

  1. Product cost

Electricity costs are not included because work was done during daylight hours;

Material costs amounted to 85 rubles;

It is very difficult to determine the cost of the work. The approximate price of the product was 1000 rubles;

In general, the cost of the product was 1085 rubles.

Consequently, the cost of a tea set is significantly lower than market and store prices for similar products.

Output

Knitting a tea set took me a lot of effort, endurance and care. The slightest mistake could lead to sad consequences, for example, it would be necessary to bandage any element. This inattention at the beginning of knitting met with me very often, but when I got used to the work, it went like clockwork.

Having analyzed all the costs of a tea service, we can conclude that this is a very profitable product for making at home, since it does not require significant material costs.

These things handicraft can decorate any place in an apartment, house, exhibition, etc. They are able to convey the feeling of something original, unusual.

Having completed the product, I once again confirmed my knowledge and skills in crocheting, and I would like to apply them in the future.
