Fabric products can be simple, single-layer, but often they are made voluminous or multi-layered, decorated with beads, ribbons and rhinestones. At the same time, the New Year's atmosphere will completely absorb, there will be a pleasant feeling of a holiday of family happiness.

Only at first glance it might seem that there is nothing special and exciting in making such New Year's decorations as snowflakes. If you dive into this process, it will become clear how many variations these crafts have. There are not only classic, paper attributes of the holiday, but also more original ones. Craftsmen make not only airy and fluffy snowflakes, but even fabric ones and from foam plastic, cotton wool and other materials. Each of them turns out to be unique, amazingly beautiful and bright.

Agree that white foam is very reminiscent of snow, however, durable and non-melting. Why not try using Styrofoam to make something “snowy”? We decided to make unusual snowflakes out of this material!

For work we need:

• two bags of foam balls of different sizes (can be purchased at a craft store);
• a piece of polystyrene of any size (if you cannot find the balls);
• several old clothes hangers;
• nippers;
• hot glue gun;
• measuring round spoons;
• spray with liquid paint;
• needle;
• tape or thread.

Step 1

Start by grabbing an old, unwanted hanger and using a pair of pliers to unbend it to create a smooth, sturdy wire.

Step 2

Divide the resulting wire into pieces using pliers. For one snowflake, we will need one wire 10-12 cm long and four wires 5-6 cm each.

Step 3

Take a Styrofoam sheet. Using a small measuring spoon, scoop up a round ball of Styrofoam as shown.

Step 4

In order to get the balls you want, scoop the material deeper with a spoon, and then remove it in a circular motion.

Step 5

You should get such a ball. As you can see, while its shape is far from ideal, but it's not scary.

Step 6

Take the ball in your hand and gently roll it in your palms as if you were making small meatballs.

Step 7

We need 6 balls of the same size and 6 balls a little larger. To do this, you need to use two measuring spoons of different sizes.

If you were unable to buy large ready-made balls, you can also make them yourself. For example, you can use an ice cream scoop to do this. Let's start assembling our snowflake!

Step 8

First, take the largest piece of wire 10-12 cm long. Place the balls on it in the order shown in the picture. Please note that in the middle is the largest foam ball - this is the center of our craft. In order for the balls to stick to the wire, they must be glued to it with liquid glue.

Step 9

Now take pieces of wire 5-6 cm long. On each segment, using glue, you need to place three parts - two small balls and one large one in the center.

Step 10

When the short pieces are ready, you just need to stick them with sharp tips into the central ball of the snowflake, as shown in the figure. Make sure that the rays of the snowflake are equidistant from each other.

Step 11

When the work is done, it's time to paint it! We used a spray with silver glitter. If you don't have paint like this, you can cover the snowflake with, say, colorless paint or even colorless nail polish, and on top with a lot of glitter.
