Oktoberfest Beer Festival, Munich, last week of September - first week of October(two weeks)
Every autumn huge beer tents are set up in the Theresienwiese meadow and 16 days of fun begin. In fact, Oktoberfest is the largest annual festival in the world, for last years it was attended by 6.5 million people. Large tents and tents can accommodate up to 6,000 beer lovers at a time, they are set up by restaurants or city bar owners. Each tent has its own special atmosphere: the Hofbrauhaus Festhalle is for ordinary tourists, the Wiesenschanke attracts more sophisticated visitors, Festhalle Schottenhamel is a place where young people gather. Oktoberfest begins in mid-September with a parade of festival organizers and brewers who brew a special beer for the festival, Wiesn. The procession is like a colorful carnival with carts and musicians. The Lord Mayor of Munich opens Oktoberfest with a full mug of beer in the air. The waiters quickly walk around the crowd with mugs so that the people begin to quench their thirst and do not stop until the beginning of October. Of course, besides beer, there is a lot: eateries, laugh rooms, performances, dances, shooting galleries, puppet theaters, tent circuses, mini-cars and merry-go-rounds. During the festival, 5.7 million liters of beer are drunk, hundreds of thousands of chickens and sausages, hundreds of bulls, tens of thousands of kilograms of fish and cheese are eaten. In 1810, the Bavarian king Ludwig I married Teresa von Sachsenhildburghausen and the local population celebrated this event for 16 consecutive days. They had so much fun that they decided to do it again a year later. This has been going on for almost two hundred years. (Oktoberfest website)

Beer festival "Oktoberfest", not only in Munich, but also in Stuttgart
You can get to a real beer paradise with the capital in Munich at the end of September, which is what more than 6 million people do every year. The reason for the two-week beer binge was the wedding of Louis of Bavaria and Teresa of Saxony. Since then, every year, the main action of the beer festival has been concentrated on Theresienweise ("Teresa's meadow"), since on the opening day a solemn procession, consisting of columns of shooters, brass bands, carts with beer, people in national costumes, comes to the head of the procession girl with a bell, the symbol of Munich.
Competitions, games, dances, Bavarian songs only complement the immeasurable consumption of beer from liter mugs. You should eat beer with Bavarian sausages, fish sticks, fried pork legs with sauerkraut and bretzels. In Stuttgart, in addition to the traditional drinking of beer, they also go rafting and arrange balloon races.

Holidays in the USA in September

Navajo People's Fair, Arizona, USA, early September
The Dineta Territory (Southeastern United States) is the ancestral land of the Navajo people (or the Dinet people), stretching across Arizona, part of the states of Utah and New Mexico. Today it is a semi-autonomous, self-governing region with 150,000 inhabitants from the largest Indian tribe in the United States. Each September, the Navajo People's Fair brings together tribal members from around the world and is the largest gathering of Native American people to date. The sacred land of Dineta lies between the four sacred mountains that serve as the border for the reservation. The Fair blends the typical features of a typical US rural fair with a complex mix of Navajo beliefs, traditions and rituals. Usually, first there is a "review" of cattle, then a big parade begins and dances in national costumes... The program includes competitions in toasting flatbreads, competitions on drums. One of the main events is the free distribution of kebabs: 8 thousand Indians eat 1270 kg of meat, beef specially cooked on coals in pots covered with thin steel sheets and a layer of earth on top. Held at the Fair and Beauty Contest. Basic conditions for participants: from 17 to 21 years old, have at least 10% Indian blood, be unmarried and have no children. Participants in swimsuits are not allowed to go out here; in addition to their appearance, dance, "traditional talent" and participation in the life of the community are assessed. The Professional Rodeo Navajo is also the highlight of the program, as they have been renowned as excellent riders and herders for centuries. And, of course, there is a sea of souvenirs and traditional products, that's why it is the Fair: rugs and blankets with exquisite complex patterns and rich symbols, silver products and turquoise jewelry. All this is accompanied by the sale of the national food - lamb stew and fried flatbreads.

Vegetarian Festival, Phuket (late September - early October)
Phuket residents of Chinese descent go on a vegetarian diet for nine days. The first day of the festival is marked by a parade of the vegetarian diet in white robes.
This Phuket holiday is also called "Thai masochism".
During the holiday, no one eats meat, because in Ko Phuket, on the island of Phuket, one of the most stunning Buddhist religious ceremonies in the world takes place. The holiday includes "ascetic" rituals in the form of self-flagellation, piercing one's cheeks with almost two-meter poles and climbing a ladder made of blades. All this happens every year in the first nine days of the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar.
In the opinion of a European, the word holiday does not quite correspond to the content of the festival, because main principle here - the more terrible things a person does to himself - the better.
Nine days before the festival, volunteers - "Warriors of the Gods" - perform a strict fast. They stop eating meat, abstain from alcohol, cigarettes, sex, lies, quarrels and murders. This ritual purifies their minds and prepares them for the possession of the Nine Imperial Gods, and for performing various monstrous ascetic deeds. Most likely, they are convinced that the gods dwell in their bodies at the time of self-torture, and this allows them to endure a very high degree of pain.
Phuket's Chinese temples also take part in the festival. Various religious rituals in honor of the Warriors of the Gods are held in the courtyards of the temples to the accompaniment of drums, the ringing of bells and the sounds of cymbals. First, they are smoked with incense, and then the ministers bring various instruments of "torture": hooks, steel rods, swords, umbrellas, blades and chains, which are previously tested on hard vegetables and fruits. First, the volunteer goes into a trance, introducing himself into it with jumping and screaming. Since the Warriors can be more than sixty people, the temple becomes like a menagerie. Some bark like dogs, others portray monkeys ... Having gone into ecstasy, they proceed to the main action, moreover, the wounds of the participants do not bleed and they themselves do not seem to experience pain.
The holiday moves to the city, where the participants follow the parade and everyone tries to show as much creativity as possible in self-torture. Young people carrying the altar through the streets periodically arrange fireworks with the help of small sticks of dynamite - this process symbolizes the purification of the air of the city from evil. The apotheosis is one of the nights when hundreds of people climb the 12-meter razor ladder, consisting of 72 sharply sharpened blades. Usually, most warriors manage to climb a ladder on one side and descend on the other without cutting their feet ...
At the end of the holiday of self-execution, each warrior approaches his priest, and he, laying his hands on the martyr, brings him out of his trance. The warrior opens his eyes and leaves as if nothing had happened.

Holidays in the Czech Republic in September

Cz: a festival of young wine
In the Czech Republic, young wine is not called any gentle word like Beaujolais Nouveau, but simply and sonorously - burchak, and appears already in mid-September. A greenish-gray liquid, in consistency and aroma reminiscent of Soviet apple juice with pulp, is drunk a maximum of a month after the grapes have been pressed, before it has yet fermented. Burchak is very cheap and is served in mid-September throughout the Czech Republic: in bars, cafes, restaurants, but mostly in squares.

The holiday with folk festivities on its occasion lasts only three days, but in almost every city it takes place in different time... In Prague, the main square of the unofficial festival of young wine is Irzhiho z Podebrady na Zizkov.

People, mainly young people, gather here in the evenings from all over the city. There are two goals. The first is to get drunk quickly: the burchak is surprisingly easy! , and its effect is extremely fast. The second is to listen to music: mass drinking of burchak is accompanied by performances of musicians. In small Czech towns, these are usually local folklore orchestras of cheerful men. In Prague, these are the monsters of the local rock scene. However, everyone has about the same repertoire: pseudo-folk songs with dubious morality, such as ditties.

The people gather around the musicians, on the grass, and communicate. Those that are more active play simple games in the fresh air. Games are chosen so that there are fewer complex movements, and more opportunities to fall and fall asleep. For example, a tug of war. The fun begins at 4-5 pm, and diverges or, rather, spreads out in the middle of the night. The festivities take place from mid September to the end of October.

Events in Switzerland in September

Lucerne Music and Fireworks Festival
Russian tourists are not frequent visitors to Swiss landscapes. The pinnacle of the bourgeois way of life is the quietest, noblest, most tender and terribly expensive Switzerland as a place of summer vacation is to the liking only of those who, through material well-being, have already achieved emotional balance or strive to achieve it without burdening their minds with thoughts from the perspective of “I wish I had this thousand dollars (two, three, four, five ...) spent on something useful in the household. " But still, Switzerland attracts. There is such a charm in the myth of this country that it is difficult to fight.

If you need a weighty reason to justify to your loved ones why you are going to go to Switzerland in the summer, here it is: from mid-August to mid-September, Lucerne hosts the Seenachtsfest - a solid festival of symphonic music, traditionally preceded by a holiday of night fireworks over the surface of Lake Lucerne and accompanied by gastronomic extravaganzas in chic restaurants.

On the night festival of lights in Lucerne, when at 22.00 evening Lucerne is engulfed in flames, it is best to sit somewhere on the open terrace of a coastal restaurant, look at the "burning" city, feed Lucerne swans with pieces from their richly served table and listen to how loudly they flop on well-fed fish from Lake Lucerne with their tails.

Just don't think that in Lucerne you will reign among the few tourists. The Lucerne Festival is considered one of the most significant festivals of classical and modern music, an event that brings together world-famous orchestras and leading conductors, so more than 110,000 people come here especially for concerts.

Shooters Festival "Knabenshiessen", mid-September, Zurich
A whole army of teenagers take part in this old Swiss festival. Army - in the literal sense of the word, for 13-17-year-old boys and girls will compete in shooting with enviable restraint and composure. Holidays in South Africa in September

Bloom Festival, Namaqualand, South Africa, mid-August - mid-September
Most of the year the area Namaqualand v South Africa is an arid, sparsely populated mountain desert in 300 km north of Cape Town... But for 6 weeks of spring, these mountains are covered with an unprecedented colorful carpet of wild flowers - one of the most stunning sights on Earth. About 4,000 species of wild flowers participate in this holiday, among them - Namaqualand chamomile, aloe, lilies, perennial flowers. All of them create intricate patterns of white, purple, yellow, orange. It is impossible to predict where and when the peak flowering will occur. This colorful performance is influenced by wind, sun, rain and temperature. The picture changes every day. There are, however, a few permanent details: the flowers are very sensitive to light, they open around 10 am and close at 4 am. Since the plants are always facing the sun, they are best viewed from the east in the morning and from the west in the evening. Rain, cloudy, winds can cover the show for a while. The distances between the various flower fields are considerable, so travelers set off on real "flower safaris" by car, armed with a detailed map, camera, water and fuel.
